Finite Element Analysis of Raft Foundation under Coupled Moment
...Show More Authors

Due to wind wave actions, ships impacts, high-speed vehicles and others resources of loading, structures such as high buildings rise bridge and electric transmission towers undergo significant coupled moment loads. In this study, the effect of increasing the value of coupled moment and increasing the rigidity of raft footing on the horizontal deflection by using 3-D finite element using ABAQUS program. The results showed that the increasing the coupled moment value leads to an increase in lateral deflection and increase in the rotational angle (α◦). The rotational angle increases from (0.014, 0.15 to 0.19) at coupled moment (120 kN.m), (0.29, 0.31 and 0.49) at coupled moment (240 kN.m) and (0.57, 0.63 and 1.03) at coupled moment (480 kN.m) with decreasing the raft thickness from (1.5, 1.0 to 0.5m), respectively. The computed maximum lateral deflection decreases with increasing the rigidity of raft. The maximum deflection decreases from (40 to 3mm) at coupled moment 120 kN.m, (150 to 60mm) at coupled moment 240 kN.m and (210 to 118mm) at coupled moment 480 kN.m with increase raft thickness from (t = 0.5 to 1.5m) and the maximum reduction in maximum stress value and lateral deflection mobilized due to applied coupled moment is noticed when width to thickness of footing ratio is less than (w/t<12). The failure of the footing is noticed when the rotational angle is more than 4◦ (α > 4◦)

Sectional and Stress Analysis of Hybrid Reinforced Concrete Beams with Embedded GFRP Profiles Under Monotonic Static Loading
...Show More Authors

Glass fiber–reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcement provides an effective alternative to conventional steel in concrete structures due to its corrosion resistance. Nevertheless, the lower elastic modulus of GFRP necessitates careful consideration of serviceability behavior in GFRP-reinforced concrete members. This study presents a numerical sectional analysis model for predicting the flexural response and ultimate capacity of hybrid reinforced concrete beams incorporating embedded GFRP profiles in combination with either mild steel or GFRP reinforcement bars under monotonic static loading. The proposed model employs realistic nonlinear stress–strain relationships for concrete and steel, together with secant moduli of elasticity

Thermal Modeling of Solar Still Coupled with Heat Pipes and Experimental Validation
...Show More Authors

Water is the basis of the existence of all kinds of life, so obtaining it with good quality represents a challenge to human existence and development especially in the desert and remote cities because these areas contain small populations and water purification requires great materials and huge amounts of fossil fuels resulting pollution of the environment. Cheap and environmentally friendly desalination methods have been done by using solar distillations. Passive solar stills have low yields, so in this research, the problem is overcome by connecting four heat pipes which are installed on the parabolic concentrator reflector with passive solar still to increase the temperature of hot water to more than 90°C, as a resul

COUPLED VERTICAL – TORSIONAL AND LATERAL FREE VIBRATION OF THIN-WALLED CURVED BEAM
...Show More Authors

This study is concerned with the derivation of differential equation of motion for the free coupled vertical – torsional and lateral vibration of opened thin-walled curved beams. The curved beam to be considered in this study is of isotropic opened thin – walled (I) section with equal top and bottom flanges. The derivation depends on Hamilton's principle which required finding the potential and kinetic energy of the curved beam section due to internal stresses and all types of movements (Vertical,Torsional and Lateral) .The effect of restrained warping displacement is also considered in this study. Three differential equations are derived for vertical, torsional and lateral movement .and approximate solutions are developed by using the

Assessment of the Contamination of Baghdad Soils with Lead Element
...Show More Authors

The present study aims to study the content and spatial distribution of lead (Pb) contamination in the soils of some Baghdad cities (Middle of Iraq). Twenty soil samples were randomly collected from different land-use in the studied area at a depth between 5 to 30 cm. Ten samples are collected from Al-Rissafa side areas (Adhamiya, Al-Wazeeria (Battery Manufacturer), Shikh Omer, Ziyouna, Karada, Shaab, Sadr city, Al-Za’franiya, Al-Dora expressway, and Alselikh ) and other ten samples are collected from Al-Krakh side areas Al-Dora, Al-Masafi junction, Al-Dora, Sayidia, Al-Salam university college, Al-Bayaa (Industrial District), Jehad, Amirya, Abu Ghraib, Al-hurriya, and Kadhimiya. The soil samples have been analyzed for the lead (P

PREDICTION OF FINITE CONCENTRATIONBEHAVIOR FROM INFINITE DILUTION EGUILIBRIUM DATA
...Show More Authors

Experimental activity coefficients at infinite dilution are particularly useful for calculating the parameters needed in an expression for the excess Gibbs energy. If reliable values of γ∞1 and γ∞2 are available, either from direct experiment or from a correlation, it is possible to predict the composition of the azeotrope and vapor-liquid equilibrium over the entire range of composition. These can be used to evaluate two adjustable constants in any desired expression for G E. In this study MOSCED model and SPACE model are two different methods were used to calculate γ∞1 and γ∞2

Impact of eccentricity and depth-to-breadth ratio on the behavior of skirt foundation rested on dry gypseous soil
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Gypseous soils are considered one of the most problematic soils. The skirted foundation is an alternative technology that works to improve the bearing capacity and reduce settlement. This paper investigates the use of square skirted foundations resting on gypseous soil subjected to concentric and eccentric vertical load with eccentricity values of 4, 8, and 17 mm in 16 experimental model tests. To obtain the results by using this type of foundation, a small-scale physical model was designed to obtain the load–settlement behavior of the square skirted foundation; the dimension of the square footing is 100 mm × 100 mm with 1 mm thickness, the skirt depth (D</p> ... Analytical solutions via coupled Elzaki adomian decomposition method for some applications
...Show More Authors

An efficient combination of Adomian Decomposition iterative technique coupled Elzaki transformation (ETADM) for solving Telegraph equation and Riccati non-linear differential equation (RNDE) is introduced in a novel way to get an accurate analytical solution. An elegant combination of the Elzaki transform, the series expansion method, and the Adomian polynomial. The suggested method will convert differential equations into iterative algebraic equations, thus reducing processing and analytical work. The technique solves the problem of calculating the Adomian polynomials. The method’s efficiency was investigated using some numerical instances, and the findings demonstrate that it is easier to use than many other numerical procedures. It has
