Assessing Tensile and Shear Properties of Recycled Sustainable Asphalt Pavement
...Show More Authors

Hot mix recycling of asphalt pavements is increasingly being used as one of the major rehabilitation methods by various highway agencies. Besides general savings in costs and energy expended, it also saves our natural resources and environment.  Recycling process presents a sustainable pavement by using the old materials that could be reclaimed from the pavement; these materials could be mixed with recycling agents to produce recycled mixtures. The important expected benefits of recycling process are the conservation of natural resources and reduction of environmental impact. The primary objectives of this work are evaluating the Tensile and Shear Properties of recycled asphalt concrete mixtures, In addition to the resistance to moisture damage. The impact of implementing three types of recycling agents on asphalt concrete properties was also investigated. For this purpose, old materials reclaimed from field, (100% RAP), virgin filler at 3 percent content by weight of mixture and three types of recycling agents ( soft asphalt cement of penetration grade 200-300, soft asphalt cement of penetration grade 200-300 blended with 4% silica fumes and soft asphalt cement of penetration grade 200-300 blended with 6% fly ash ) at 1.5% content by weight of mixture have been implemented and used to prepare recycled mixtures. Mixtures were subjected to the following tests: Marshall Test (12 specimens), indirect tensile strength test at 20ºC, 25ºC, 40ºC, and 60ºC (48 specimens), indirect tensile ratio ( 12  specimens), double punch shear test (12 specimens).

It was found that using (soft asphalt cement blended with silica fumes) as a recycling agent revealed better performance results than the other type of recycling agent. The percentages of variation for recycled mixtures with recycling agent of (soft asphalt cement blended with silica fume) when compared to aged mixture were ( -13.8%, -25.05%, 229.5%, -47.67%, ) for properties of ( Marshall stability, indirect tensile strength at 60ºC, tensile strength ratio, double punch test,), respectively.

Assessment of the Impact of Adhesive and Wires Types on the Tensile Bond Strength of Fixed Lingual Retainers Used in Orthodontics: An In Vitro Study
...Show More Authors

Introduction: We aimed to assess the impact of adhesive and wires types on the tensile bond strength of fixed lingual retainers. Methods: A total of 160 intact bovine teeth were collected, cleaned, stored in 25% sodium hypochlorite, and randomly assigned to two groups based on the adhesive type: a two-step adhesive and a one-step adhesive. Each group was further divided into four subgroups based on the type of lingual retainer wire, which included (A) 8-strand braided stainless steel wire, (B) three-strand titanium retainer wire, (C) stainless steel chain, and (D) fiber-reinforced retainer. A tensile bond strength test was conducted using a universal testing machine at a controlled speed of 10 mm/min. Result: The 8-strand braided stainles

EFFCT OF HOOPS AND COLUMN AXIAL LOAD ON SHEAR STRENGTH OF HIGH-STRENGTH FIBER REINFORCED BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS
...Show More Authors

A reinforced concrete frame is referred as "RIGID FRAMES". However, researches indicate that the Beam-Column joint (BCJ) is definitely not rigid. In addition, extensive research shows that failure may occur at the joint instead of in the beam or the column. Joint failure is known to be a catastrophic type which is difficult to repair.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of hoops and column axial load on the shear strength of high-strength fiber reinforced Beam-Column Joints by using a numerical model based on finite element method using computer program ANSYS (Version 11.0). The variables are: diameter of hoops and magnitude of column axial load.
The theoretical results obtained from ANSYS program are in a good a

Model Development for the Prediction of the Resilient Modulus of Warm Mix Asphalt
...Show More Authors

Increasing material prices coupled with the emission of hazardous gases through the production and construction of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) has driven a strong movement toward the adoption of sustainable construction technology. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) is considered relatively a new technology, which enables the production and compaction of asphalt concrete mixtures at temperatures 15-40 °C lower than that of traditional hot mix asphalt. The Resilient modulus (Mr) which can be defined as the ratio of axial pulsating stress to the corresponding recoverable strain, is used to evaluate the relative quality of materials as well as to generate input for pavement design or pavement evaluation and analysis. Based on the aforementioned preface, it is

Rutting Resistance Potential of High Modulus Asphalt Concrete Pavements
...Show More Authors

The High Modulus Asphalt Concrete Mixture (HMACM) or (EME) (Enrobes a Module Eleve) developed in France, since, 1980 by Laboratories Central des Ponts et Chaussees (LCPC). Due to the increasing in traffic intensity and axle loading this type of mixing were suitable for pavement subjected to heavy duty. Experiments showed that EME mixtures have an excellent moisture damage resistance permanent deformation, fatigue cracking and reducing costs of maintenance and a significant reduction in thickness of pavement. Because of the high stiffness of EME mixes, the stresses transformed to the bottom laid layer by repeated traffic wheel loads were reduced effectively. This study intend to focus the light into the possibility of producing asphalt mixtu

Assessment of Rutting Resistance for Fiber-Modified Asphalt Mixtures
...Show More Authors

Rutting is one of the most complex and widespread types of distress. The rutting is frequently observed on Iraqi roads, especially at the checkpoints, forming a significant hazard on the asphalt layers. Factors such as heavy loads and high temperatures contribute to this distress. Adding fibers to a hot mix asphalt (HMA) effectively improves performance and extends the lifespan of the flexible pavement. This article used glass, steel, and basalt fibers. The wheel tracking test assessed the fibre-asphalt mixture for rutting resistance and compared it with the mix without adding fibers (control HMA). Meanwhile, the microscopic structure of fibres and asphalt mixture modified with fibers was examined using the Field Emission Scanning E
