Block-Iterative Frequency-Domain Equalizations for SC-IDMA Systems

In wireless broadband communications using single-carrier interleave division multiple access (SC-IDMA) systems, efficient multiuser detection (MUD) classes that make use of joint hybrid decision feedback equalization (HDFE)/ frequency decision-feedback equalization (FDFE) and interference cancellation (IC) techniques, are proposed in conjunction with channel coding to deal with several users accessing the multipath fading channels. In FDFE-IDMA, the feedforward (FF) and feedback (FB) filtering operations of FDFE, which use to remove intersymbol interference (ISI), are implemented by Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs), while in HDFE-IDMA the only FF filter is implemented by FFTs. Further, the parameters involved in the FDFE/HDFE filtering are derived according to the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criteria, and the feedback symbol decisions are directly designed from soft detection of the decoded signals at the previous iteration. The simulation results including comparisons with those of frequency domain equalization (FDE), SC-FDE-IDMA and multi-carrier OFDM-IDMA schemes, with cyclic prefixing (CP) and zero padding (ZP) techniques, show that the combination of FDFE-IC/HDFE-IC provides an efficient solution with good performance for IDMA systems in ISI channels. Moreover, these iterative structures with block equalization yield a much lower complexity than equivalent existing structures, making them attractive for a wealth of applications.

Enhancement of Wheat Leaf Images Using Fuzzy-Logic Based Histogram Equalization to Recognize Diseases

The detection of diseases affecting wheat is very important as it relates to the issue of food security, which poses a serious threat to human life. Recently, farmers have heavily relied on modern systems and techniques for the control of the vast agricultural areas. Computer vision and data processing play a key role in detecting diseases that affect plants, depending on the images of their leaves. In this article, Fuzzy- logic based Histogram Equalization (FHE) is proposed to enhance the contrast of images. The fuzzy histogram is applied to divide the histograms into two subparts of histograms, based on the average value of the original image, then equalize them freely and independently to conserve the brightness of the image. The prop

A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF SEMI-ANGLE OF CONE ON THE VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS OF CYLINDRICAL-CONICAL COUPLED SHELL STRUCTURE

In this work, the effect of variation of semi-angle of the conical part on the vibration characteristics of cylindrical-conical coupled structure is investigated. The shell is made of polyester resin reinforced by continuous E-glass fibers. The case is analyzed experimentally and numerically for orthotropic shell structures. The experimental program is conducted by exciting the fabricated structure by an impact hammer and monitoring the response using an attached accelerometer for different semi-angles of the conical part.
Software named SIGVIEW is used to perform the signal processing on the acquired signal in order to measure the natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes. The numerical investigation is achieved using ANS

Deterministic Analysis of Wind Loads Effects on High-Rise Buildings

This paper studies the effect of mean wind velocity on tall building. Wind velocity, wind profile and wind pressure have been considered as a deterministic phenomenon. Wind velocity has been modelled as a half-sinusoidal wave. Three exposures have been studied B, C, and D. Wind pressure was evaluated by equation that joined wind pressure with mean wind velocity, air density, and drag coefficient.

Variations of dynamic load factor for building tip displacement and building base shear were studied for different building heights, different mode shapes, different terrain exposures, and different aspect ratios of building plan. SAP software, has been used in modelling and dynamic analysis for all case studies.

Studying of Frequencies, Normal Modes of Vibration and Electronic Charge Densities of 5Radialene molecule

PM3 and DFT (6-311G/ B3LYP) level calculations were carried out for the 5Radialene molecule, which is exhibit D5h symmetry. The obtained equilibrium geometry was applied for the calculation of all 3N−6 vibration frequencies, and for the analysis of its normal coordinates and symmetry species, in addition to some physical properties such as heat of formation, total energy, dipole moment and energy difference of HOMO and LUMO levels (ΔELUMO-HOMO), using Gaussian-03 program. The so calculated frequencies according to DFT (6-311G/ B3LYP) fall in the ranges;
CH2 str. (3016-3098 cm-1), C=C str. (1662-1709cm-1), ring (C-C str.) (1268-1464 cm-1). δCH2 (890-1317cm-1), (δCCC) (562-631cm-1), γCH2 (738-946cm-1) and γring (γCCC) (

A New Analytic Method to Tune a Fractional Order PID Controller

This paper proposes a new method to tune a fractional order PID controller. This method utilizes both the analytic and numeric approach to determine the controller parameters. The control design specifications that must be achieved by the control system are gain crossover frequency, phase margin, and peak magnitude at the resonant frequency, where the latter is a new design specification suggested by this paper. These specifications results in three equations in five unknown variables. Assuming that certain relations exist between two variables and discretizing one of them, a performance index can be evaluated and the optimal controller parameters that minimize this performance index are selected. As a case study, a thir

Experimental evidence of Phase Control method in chaotic Semiconductor Laser

we study how to control the dynamics of excitable systems by using the phase control technique. We study how to control nonlinear semiconductor laser dynamics with optoelectronic feedback using the phase control method. The phase control method uses the phase difference between a small.added frequenc y and the main driving frequency to suppress chaos, which leads to various periodic orbits. The experimental studying for the evaluation of chaos modulation behavior are considered in two conditions, the first condition, when one frequency of the external perturbation is varied, secondly, when two of these perturbations are changed. The chaotic system becomes regular under one frequency or two freq

Experimental Evidence of Chaotic Resonance in Semiconductor Laser

In this paper, an experimental study has been conducted regarding the indication of resonance in chaotic semiconductor laser.  Resonant perturbations are effective for harnessing nonlinear oscillators for various applications such as inducing chaos and controlling chaos. Interesting results have been obtained regarding to the effect of the   chaotic resonance by adding the frequency on the systems. The frequency changes nonlinear dynamical system through a critical value, there is a transition from a periodic attractor to a strange attractor. The amplitude has a very relevant impact on the system, resulting in an optimal resonance response for appropriate values related to correlation time. The chaotic system becomes regular under

Parallel Routing in Wireless Sensor Network

The limitations of wireless sensor nodes are power, computational capabilities, and memory. This paper suggests a method to reduce the power consumption by a sensor node. This work is based on the analogy of the routing problem to distribute an electrical field in a physical media with a given density of charges. From this analogy a set of partial differential equations (Poisson's equation) is obtained. A finite difference method is utilized to solve this set numerically. Then a parallel implementation is presented. The parallel implementation is based on domain decomposition, where the original calculation domain is decomposed into several blocks, each of which given to a processing element. All nodes then execute computations in parall

Design and Evaluation of a Polarizer Filter

This research includes theoretical and evaluation design of a polarizer filter of high transmission in the near IR region of (900-1200nm) for different incidence angles to obtain a long wave and short wave pass filter using analytical calculations. Results refer to a new configuration design in fewer layers than used in previous studies in the long wave pass at incidence angles (45o,50o,55o). Adopted Hafnium dioxide (HfO2) and Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) as coating material at design wavelength (933nm), the study also included design short wave pass polarizer by using the same coating material.
