Simulation and Modeling of Detailed Load flow Analysis for the 400kVA and 132kVA Iraqi Grid

A load flow program is developed using MATLAB and based on the Newton–Raphson method,which shows very fast and efficient rate of convergence as well as computationally the proposed method is very efficient and it requires less computer memory through the use of sparsing method and other methods in programming to accelerate the run speed to be near the real time.
The designed program computes the voltage magnitudes and phase angles at each bus of the network under steady–state operating conditions. It also computes the power flow and power losses for all equipment, including transformers and transmission lines taking into consideration the effects of off–nominal, tap and phase shift transformers, generators, shunt capacitors, shunt inductors, line reactors and bus reactors. Thus, overloaded transformers and transmission lines are identified, and remedial measure can be designed and implemented. It also provides the ability of tie lines, area splitting, and contingency analysis.
Any generator station(s) or busbar(s) that exceeds the specified operation limits will be automatically checked and flagged and then the program will automatically suggest the best solution to the problem. It also automatically checks whether the system is sub divided into sub areas or not. If yes, it will find the solution for each area separately. A complete report about the results and the state of the system (the violated generators, busbars, and transmission lines, the required modifications to overcome the violations, the names of the areas splitted,…) will be displayed in working window as well as generating a text file containing all details .
It is important to mention that this program is used by the national control center of the Ministry of Electricity and its efficiency was tested through applying the data of the two major Iraqi networks (400kV and 132kV), the program shows very accurate results and provides efficient notes about the status of the networks

Psychological Flow and Its Relation to Futuristic Thinking among Postgraduates

The research seeks to find the relationship between psychological flow and futuristic thinking among postgraduate students. To this end, the researchers have made up two scales: one scale to measure the psychological flow which consisted of (32) items and the other to measure the futuristic thinking included (39) items which were distributed into three domains. As to collect the required data, the two scales had applied on a sample comprised (200) postgraduate students. The findings revealed that there is a correlation between psychological flow and futuristic thinking. The researcher recommended the coming studies take the relationship between psychological flow and psychological happiness.

Experimental and numerical investigation on the behavior of reinforced reactive powder concrete two-way slabs under static load

This paper studied the behaviour of reinforced reactive powder concrete (RPC) two-way slabs under static load. The experimental program included testing three simply supported slabs of 1000 mm length, 1000 mm width, and 70 mm thickness. Tested specimens were of identical properties except their steel fibers volume ratio (0.5 %, 1 %, and 1.5 %). Static test results revealed that, increasing steel fibers volume ratio from 0.5% to 1% and from 1% to 1.5%, led to an increase in: first crack load by (32.2 % and 52.3 %), ultimate load by (36.1 % and 17.0 %), ultimate deflection by (33.6 % and 3.4 %), absorbed energy by (128 % and 20.2 %), and the ultimate strain by (1.1 % and 6.73 %). Modeling and Control of Fuel Cell Using Artificial Neural Networks

This paper includes an experimental study of hydrogen mass flow rate and inlet hydrogen pressure effect on the fuel cell performance. Depending on the experimental results, a model of fuel cell based on artificial neural networks is proposed. A back propagation learning rule with the log-sigmoid activation function is adopted to construct neural networks model. Experimental data resulting from 36 fuel cell tests are used as a learning data. The hydrogen mass flow rate, applied load and inlet hydrogen pressure are inputs to fuel cell model, while the current and voltage are outputs.
