Behaviour of Fire Exposed Reinforced Concrete Rigid Beams with Restrained Ends
...Show More Authors

This paper is devoted to investigate the effect of burning by fire flame on the behavior and load carrying capacity of rectangular reinforced concrete rigid beams. Reduced scale beam models (which are believed to resemble as much as possible field conditions) were suggested. Five end restrained beam specimens were cast and tested. The specimens were subjected to fire flame temperatures ranging from (25-750) ºC at age of 60 days, two temperature levels of 400ºC and 750ºC were chosen with exposure duration of 1.5 hour. The cast rectangular reinforced concretebeam (2250×375×375 mm) (length× width× height respectively) were subjected to fire. Results indicate remarkable reduction in the ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound number of the rigid beams after cooled in water were (2-5 %) more than rigid beam specimens cooled in air. Load-deflection curves indicate deleterious response to the fire exposure. Also, it was noticed that the maximum crack width increases with increasing fire temperature.

Impact strength behaviour of PMMA denture base through addition of different nanoparticles after immersion in some nutrition liquids
...Show More Authors

Poly methyl methacrylate PMMA polymer could be considered the main material that used mostly in the recent years in denture base fabrication. It commonly known by it is poor strength properties such as low impact strength. The aim of the present research was to enhance the performance of PMMA denture base through the addition of two kind of nanoparticles (nano particles that selected from artificial and natural sources). Nano -particles from both Al2O3 and crushed peanut Peel were used for comparing purposes.Various weight fraction used in this study for both kinds of the additive (1%, 2% and 3%). Moreover, in this work a study and evaluation in impact strength (I.S.) value were done before and after immersion. The new prepared nanocompo

Prediction of the Bending Strength of a Composite Steel Beam–Slab Member Filled with Recycled Concrete
...Show More Authors

This study investigated the structural behavior of a beam–slab member fabricated using a steel C-Purlins beam carrying a profile steel sheet slab covered by a dry board sheet filled with recycled aggregate concrete, called a CBPDS member. This concept was developed to reduce the cost and self-weight of the composite beam–slab system; it replaces the hot-rolled steel I-beam with a steel C-Purlins section, which is easier to fabricate and weighs less. For this purpose, six full-scale CBPDS specimens were tested under four-point static bending. This study investigated the effect of using double C-Purlins beams face-to-face as connected or separated sections and the effect of using concrete material that contains different recycled

In vivo study of the expression of some immune markers in BALB/c mice exposed to Aspergillus fumigatus mycotoxin
...Show More Authors

Gliotoxin (GT) is sulfur-containing mycotoxin within the 2,5-diketopiperazines class. First discovery from Gliocladium. Later discovered from different strains belonging to Aspergillus fumigatus mainly those have glicluster. This study outlines a study on the histological effects of gliotoxin (GT) on mouse brain and spleen tissues using light and electron microscopy, with a focus on its interaction with matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Histopathological changes through MMPs expressing variability estimated by using Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Mature mice were injected intraperitoneally with acute doses determined by data response analysis (EC50/IC50) as (125, 250, and 500 μg/ml) of GT and compared with a control group that received (metha

Effect of Variation of Degree of Saturation with depth on Soil–Concrete Pile Interface in Clayey Soil
...Show More Authors

Bearing capacity of a concrete pile in fine grained cohesive soils is affected by the degree of saturation of the surrounding soil through the contribution of the matric suction. In addition, the embedded depth and the roughness of the concrete pile surface (expressed as British Pendulum Number BPN) also have their contribution to the shear strength of the concrete pile, consequently its bearing capacity. Herein, relationships among degree of saturation, pile depth, and surface roughness, were proposed as a mathematical model expressed as an equation where the shear strength of a pile can be predicted in terms of degree of saturation, depth, and BPN. - The sandy soil with high gypsum content (usually referred to as gypseous soil) covers vast area in south, east, middle and west regions of Iraq, such soil possess a type of cohesive forces when attached with optimum amount of water, then compacted and allowed to cure, but losses its strength when flooded with water again. Much work on earth reinforcement was published which concentrate on the gain in bearing capacity in the reinforced layer using different types of cohesive or cohesion less soil and various types of reinforcement such as plastic, metal, grids, and synthetic textile. Little attention was paid to there enforce gypseous soil. The objective of this work is to study the interaction between such soil and reinforcement strips

Corrosion Behaviour, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies of Water Hyacinth Extract as a Corrosion Inhibitor for Low-Carbon Steel
...Show More Authors

Corrosion inhibitors are widely used in industry to reduce the corrosion rate of metals and alloys. Corrosion inhibitors adsorb onto metallic surfaces and insulate them from deterioration. Plants abundant in nature offer a cost-effective replacement for toxic chemical inhibitors on the market. The current research used the potentiostatic polarization technique at room temperature to explore the inhibitory impact of water hyacinth extract on the corrosion of low-carbon steel specimens in a 3.5% NaCl solution. The Tafel curve was used to assess corrosion inhibition activity, with the best inhibition efficiency reaching 79.36% at a concentration of 200 ppm. Cyclic polarization indicated the type of corrosion was general corrosion. The
