A genetic algorithm model coupled with artificial neural network model was developed to find the optimal values of upstream, downstream cutoff lengths, length of floor and length of downstream protection required for a hydraulic structure. These were obtained for a given maximum difference head, depth of impervious layer and degree of anisotropy. The objective function to be minimized was the cost function with relative cost coefficients for the different dimensions obtained. Constraints used were those that satisfy a factor of safety of 2 against uplift pressure failure and 3 against piping failure.
Different cases reaching 1200 were modeled and analyzed using geo-studio modeling, with different values of input variables. The soil was considered homogeneous anisotropic. For each case, the length of protection (L) and the volume of the superstructure (V) required to satisfy the factors of safety mentioned above were calculated. These data were used to obtain an artificial neural network model for estimating (L) and (V) for a given length of upstream cutoff (S1), length of downstream cutoff (S2), head difference (H), length of floor (B), depth of impervious layer (D) and degree of anisotropy (kx/ky).
A MatLAB code was written to perform a genetic algorithm optimization modeling using the obtained ANN model .The obtained optimum solution for some selected cases were compared with the Geo-studio modeling to find the length of protection required in the downstream side and volume required for superstructure. Values estimated were found comparable to the obtained values from the Genetic Algorithm model.
There has been a great deal of research into the considerable challenge of managing of traffic at road junctions; its application to vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) has proved to be of great interest in the developed world. Dynamic topology is one of the vital challenges facing VANET; as a result, routing of packets to their destination successfully and efficiently is a non-simplistic undertaking. This paper presents a MDORA, an efficient and uncomplicated algorithm enabling intelligent wireless vehicular communications. MDORA is a robust routing algorithm that facilitates reliable routing through communication between vehicles. As a position-based routing technique, the MDORA algorithm, vehicles' precise locations are used to establish th

The classical IBFS methods including North-West Corner, Least Cost and Vogel’s Approximation have competitive computational efficiency, but they are very sensitive to the structure of the problem and usually lead to a solution that is far from the global optimum. Classic enhancement strategies like the Generalized Distribution (MODI) and Stepping-Stone (SS) approaches have low computational complexity but may fall into a local optimum quickly, which makes them ineffective in large-scale or unbalanced problems. Methods We propose the first generic hybrid algorithm, calle

Show MoreThe rise of edge-cloud continuum computing is a result of the growing significance of edge computing, which has become a complementary or substitute option for traditional cloud services. The convergence of networking and computers presents a notable challenge due to their distinct historical development. Task scheduling is a major challenge in the context of edge-cloud continuum computing. The selection of the execution location of tasks, is crucial in meeting the quality-of-service (QoS) requirements of applications. An efficient scheduling strategy for distributing workloads among virtual machines in the edge-cloud continuum data center is mandatory to ensure the fulfilment of QoS requirements for both customer and service provider. The characteristic feature of a structure is that it accepts changes in form; this fact gives the structure features represented by the unity of its parts and wholeness. Accordingly, structure theorists consider the structure the major factor in composing the parts within the wholeness of the visual cognition according to a methodological adaptation of the creative processes in treating the elements of the logo, and this would make the logo have a visual identity that provides the recipient with a holistic description of the content of the materialistic representation. Additionally, the logo achieves identification between the concept and the reality at many times; therefore, it represents an entity that has characteristics and mean

The proposed unit cell is consistent of a dielectric substrate with dimensions of 5×5×1 mm 3 made of FR4-Epoxy with εr = 4.4 underneath of a conductive patch with dimensions of 4.4×4.4mm 2 . The unit cell is structured to perform a negative permittivity (ε) and negative permeability (µ) in different bands. The proposed unit cell is developed to 5G systems in the sub-6GHz bands. In this work, a complete analysis of the unit cell in terms of Sparameters, constitutive parameters and refraction index are evaluated using HFSS simulation package based on Finite Element Method (FEM).
