Optimization of Hole Cleaning In Iraqi Directional Oil Wells

Efficient cuttings transport and hole cleaning are very important factors for obtaining an effective drilling operation. In an inclined and horizontal drilling, hole cleaning issue is a common and complex problem.

   The scope of this research is to study the drilling parameters which affect hole cleaning in Iraqi directional wells through studying and analyzing some drilled wells ( vertical , directional (30 degree) , directional (60 degree) and horizontal ).An excel sheet is prepared to calculate carrying capacity index which represents an indicator for good hole cleaning in different sections. The study indicated through the field investigations, practical experiences and theoretical calculations that the most effective drilling parameters for optimum hole cleaning were flow rate, yield point, mud weight, plastic viscosity, rotation of the drill string, and pH.

Biodegradation of Crude Oil in Contaminated Water by Local Isolates of Enterobacter cloacae

This paper study the ability of Enterobacter cloacae for degrading crude oil in contaminated water. Six isolates of E. cloacae were isolated from hydrocarbon contaminated soil and water of different sites. The isolate E. cloacae E1 showed the highest emulsification index (E24%) reached 62% thus it was chosen for further study. Biosurfactant produced by E. cloacae E1 reduced the surface tension of the medium from 64 to 36 mN/m. pH range 6.5 – 7 and temperature range 30˚C - 35˚C were the optimal conditions for maximum degradation. Optimal Robot Path Planning using Enhanced Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm

The aim of robot path planning is to search for a safe path for the mobile robot. Even though there exist various path planning algorithms for mobile robots, yet only a few are optimized. The optimized algorithms include the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) that finds the optimal path with respect to avoiding the obstacles while ensuring safety.
