Analytical and Experimental Investigation for the Effect of Air Injection Angle on the Performance of Airlift Pump
...Show More Authors

The effect of air injection angle on the performance of airlift pump used for water pumping has been studied analytically and experimentally. An airlift pump of dimensions 42mm diameter and 2200 mm length with conventional and modified air injection device was considered. A modification on conventional injection device (normal air-jacket type) was carried out by changing injection angle from 90  (for conventional) to 45  and 22.5  (for modified). Continuity and one-dimensional momentum balance for the flow field with basic principle of two-phase flow and expressions of slip ratio and friction factor as function of flow rates were formulated. The analytical and experimental investigations were carried out for both conventional and unconventional air-jackets at submergence ratios 0.75, 0.6 and 0.5 and air mass flow rate from 0.5 to 97kg/hr. The comparison between the analytical and experimental results shows agreement and the main results showed that the performance and maximum efficiency of airlift pump is increased for higher mass flow rate of injected air for all tested submergence ratio using unconventional air-jacket and the higher performance was associated with injection angle 22.5 , with average enhancement were 9% and 10% for performance and maximum efficiency respectively.

Investigation of an automobile air-conditioner with a liquid-suction heat exchanger using R134a and R1234yf
...Show More Authors

Air-conditioning systems (ACs) are essential in hot and humid climates to ensure acceptable ambient air quality as well as thermal comfort for buildings users. It is essential to improve refrigeration system performance without increasing the effects of global warming potential (GWP) and ozone depletion potential (ODP). The main objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of an air conditioning system that operates with a liquid suction heat exchanger (LSHX) through implementing refrigerants with zero OPD and low GWP (i.e., R134a and R1234yf). Liquid suction heat exchanger (LSHX) was added to an automobile air conditioning system (AACS).When Liquid suction heat exchanger was added to the cycle, primary results indicated t

Study the Effect of thickness on the Optical Properties Performance of active polymeric laser media
...Show More Authors

The paper include study the effect thickness of the polymeric sample which is manufactured by thermo press way. The sample was used as an active tunable R6G laser media. The remarks show that, when the thickness of the samples is increased, with the same concentration, the spectrum will shift towards the short wavelength, & the quantum fluorescence yield will increased. The best result we obtained for the quantum fluorescence yield is (0.68) at the sample, with thickness (0.304mm) in Ethanol solvent, while when we used the Pure Water as a solvent, we found that the best quantum fluorescence yield is (0.63) at (0.18mm) thickness of the sample.
