In this study found treatment mice exposed to CCl4 with the alcoholic extract of Pleurotus ostreatus (P2) at (25) mg/ml appeared to exert a beneficial effect since the activities of catalase, was significantly (p<0.05) higher in liver treatment with alcoholic extract of P. ostreatus (P2) (37.290+2.638) μmol/mg than in aqueous extract for the same fungus (36.557+2.231) μmol/mg. Super oxide dismutase (SOD) was significantly (p<0.05) higher in liver treatment with alcoholic extract of P. ostreatus (P2) at (25) mg/ml (17.863+0.454)U/mg than in aqueous extract (17.863+0.454) U/mg for the same fungus and same concentration. Glutathione peroxidase (Gpx) was significantly (p<0.05) higher in liver treatment with alcoholic extract of P.

A total of 589 fishes, belonging to 23 species were collected from eight different localities
in north and mid Iraq during 1993. The parasitological inspection of such fishes revealed the

An environmentally begnin second derivative spectrometric approach was developed for the estimation of the dissociation constants pKa(s) of metformin, a common anti-diabetic drug.  The ultraviolet spectra of the aqueous solution of metformin were measured at different acidities, then the second derivative of each spectrum was graphed. The overlaid second derivative graphs exhibited two isobestic points at 225.5 nm and 244 nm pointing out to the presence of two dissociation constants for metformin pKa1 and pKa2, respectively. The first aim of the present study was performed to assay the activity of arginase in sera of women with uterine fibroid..   This study consisted of(50) women with uterine fibroid as patient's group  and (30) healthy women as control group. The age ranged between (30-55) years for the two groups. The presence and prevalence of V. cholerae were investigated in forty five water samples collected from different locations of Tiger River/ Baghdad city. Twenty one isolates were isolated by adopting a simple isolation techniques. The final identification revealed that only three isolates were confirmed as V. cholerae. They were named 1J, 1R and Dial 131 which are all serogrouped as non-O1. Nanoparticles of humic acid and iron oxide were impregnated on the inert sand to produce sorbent for treating groundwater contained of cadmium and copper ions by technology of permeable reactive barrier (PRB). Sewage sludge was the source of the humic acid to prepare the coated sand by humic acid—iron oxide (CSHAIO) sorbent; so, this work is consistent with sustainable development. For 10 mg/L metal concentration, batch tests at speed of 200 rpm signified that the removal efficiencies are greater than 90% at sorbent dosage 0.25 g/ 50 mL, pH 6 and contact time 1 h.
