Effects of Bedding Types on the Behavior of Large Diameter GRP Flexible Sewer Pipes
...Show More Authors

Flexible pipes, such as GRP pipes, serve as effective underground infrastructure especially as sewer pipeline. This study is an attempt for understanding the effects of bedding types on the behavior of large diameter GRP flexible sewer pipes using three dimensional finite element approaches. Theoretical and numerical analyses were performed using both BS EN 1295-1 approach and finite element method (ABAQUS software). The effects of different parameters are studied such as, depth of backfill, bedding compaction, and backfill compaction. Due to compaction, an increase in the bedding compaction modulus (E’1) results in a reduction of both stresses and displacements of the pipe, especially, for well compacted backfill. An increase of (E’1) from 14MPa to 30MPa results in a reduction in stresses 40% and about 25% in displacements. Maximum reductions in stresses were found to be about 25% only while the reduction in displacement was found to be less than 10%. As backfill material compaction modulus (E’2) is increased from 14MPa to 40MPa, a maximum reduction in stresses within the pipe was found to be not less than 60% while the displacement reduces up to 65%.

The social and psychological effects of ISIS in the conductive press An analytical study in the Iraqi newspapers “Economic City” and “Mosul News” for the period from 30/8/2017 until 31/7/2019 : (Research derived from Master Thesis)
...Show More Authors

The research seeks to find out the extent of the coverage of the Mosul press to the issues of psychological and social effects of the organization "IS" on the community of Mosul, by analyzing the content of the newspapers “Economic City” and “Mosul News”. As well as to stand at the types of psychological and social effects and their repercussions on the Mosul community including figures, statistics and evidence that were covered in the theoretical study of these topics.

This study is the first scientific diagnosis to reveal the size and types of psychological and social effects of the “ISIS” organization  through what was monitored by the Mosul press. The study seeks to draw the attention of officials, decision-m

The structure of capital and its impact on the profitability of companies : is an analytical study of a sample of industrial companies listed on the Iraqi Stock Exchange
...Show More Authors

This study aimed to know the impact of the capital structure measured by the ratio of financing to short-term capital and the ratio of financing to long-term capital on the profitability of companies, as measured by the rate of return on assets and the rate of return on equity. The study was applied to industrial sector companies listed in the Iraq Stock Exchange. The financial number of (14) companies, and (4) companies were selected that met the conditions for selecting the study sample. The study methodology relies on the analytical method as it is more appropriate to the nature, scope and objectives of the study, and the ready-made statistical program "SPSS" will be used to analyze the relationships and influence between the

Laboratory Study on the Effect of Water-Cement Ratio on Strength Characteristics of Jet Grouting Columns
...Show More Authors

Jet grouting is one of the most widely applied soil improvement techniques. It is suitable for most geotechnical problems, including improving bearing capacity, decreasing settlement, forming seals, and stabilizing slopes. One of the difficulties faced by designers is determining the strength and geometry of elements created using this method. Jet grouted soil-cement columns in soil are a complicated issue because they are dependent on a number of parameters such as soil type, grout and water flow rate, rotation and lifting speed of monitor, nozzle jetting force, and water to cement ratio of slurry. This paper discusses the effect of the water-cement ratio on the physical and mechanical characteristics of soilcrete. In t

Effect of cold plasma technique on the quality of stored fruits - A case study on apples
...Show More Authors

The consumption of fresh fruits has increased nowadays due to the lifestyle of the consumers. Maintaining the quality and nutritional value of cut fruits during storage is difficult compared to whole fruits. Deterioration of internal and external quality usually occurs in freshly harvested fruits. It is necessary to use different techniques to maintain the quality and increase the shelf life of the freshly cut product. This research studied the effect of treating apple slices with cold plasma once and with filtered water again on quality characteristics (hardness, moisture content, sugar content, carbohydrate content, and color) after being stored for five days. The best treatment was determined using two different pressures of the plasma j

Effect of Environmental Factors on the Accuracy of a Quality Inspection System Based on Transfer Learning
...Show More Authors

In this research, a study is introduced on the effect of several environmental factors on the performance of an already constructed quality inspection system, which was designed using a transfer learning approach based on convolutional neural networks. The system comprised two sets of layers, transferred layers set from an already trained model (DenseNet121) and a custom classification layers set. It was designed to discriminate between damaged and undamaged helical gears according to the configuration of the gear regardless to its dimensions, and the model showed good performance discriminating between the two products at ideal conditions of high-resolution images.

So, this study aimed at testing the system performance at poor s

Influence of the Applied Potential and Temperature on the Electrode position of the Lead Dioxide
...Show More Authors

The excellent specifications of electrodes coated with lead dioxide material make it of great importance in the industry. So it was suggested this study, which includes electrodeposition of lead dioxide on graphite substrate, knowing that the electrodeposition of lead dioxide on graphite studied earlier in different ways.

In this work the deposition process for lead dioxide conducted using electrolytic solution containing lead nitrate concentration 0.72 M with the addition of some other material to the solution, such as copper nitrate, nickel nitrate, sodium fluoride and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, but only in very small concentrations. As for the operating conditions, the effect of change potential and temperature as well
