This study is considered to be the first on this sector of Tigris River after 2003, to evaluate the effect of Tharthar Arm on the composition and diversity of Copepoda in Tigris River. Six sampling sites were selected; two on the Tharthar Arm and four sites along the Tigris River, one before the confluence as a control site and the others downstream the confluence; thirty-five copepod taxa were recorded, 34 taxa in the Tigris River and 25 taxa in the Tharthar Arm.

Some physical and chemical characteristics of Jurf Al- Sakar drinking water plant in Babylon governorate have been studied. Seven locations for this plant were selected. These were the drinking water treatment plant source on Euphrates River before entering the plant, precipitation, filtration and collection tanks, and also after leaving the plant at distances of one meter, 4 and 8 km. Under aerobic and anaerobic conditions, two laboratory-scale reactors were operated. Each reactor
was packed with 8.5 kg of shredded synthetic solid waste (less than 5 cm) that was prepared according to an
average composition of domestic solid waste in the city of Kirkuk. Using an air compressor, aerobic
conditions were created in the aerobic reactor. This study shows that the aerobic reactor was more efficient in
COD and BOD5 removal which were 97.88% and 91.25% while in case of anaerobic reactor, they were
66.53%and 19.11%, respectively.

The wild populations of the vinegar fly Drosophila melanogaster Meigen from two regions in Baghdad , Saidiya and Tuwaitha were selected for this study to investigating the frequency of the dominant lethality , this parameter was investigated through fecundity and egg hatchability rate which considered as main indicator for the presence of mutation .
