Beyond Individual Ownership: Women's and Men's Land Tenure Rights in Iraqi Heritage Systems
...Show More Authors

This paper delves into the significant role played by local social and traditional structures in shaping Traditional Community Tenure (TCT) within Iraqi Land Tenure Legislation (ILTR), and examines their impact on gender inequalities, with a specific focus on women's land tenure rights. The methodological approach employed in this study identified the sources of barriers to gender equality within TCT as outlined in ILTR at two different bilateral levels, with input obtained from key stakeholders in a selected city in Iraq. The case study survey encompassed three districts, which served as local layers within the historic sectors of the Iraqi city of Al-Nasiriya. the study employed quantitative methods, including a household surveyو with

Natural honey is well known for its therapeutic value and has been used in traditional medicine of different cultures throughout the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Malaysian Gelam honey in inflammation-induced rats. Paw edema was induced by a subplantar injection of 1% carrageenan into the rat right hind paw. Rats were treated with the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Indomethacin (10 mg/kg, p.o.) or Gelam honey at different doses (1 or 2 g/kg, p.o.). The increase in footpad thickness was considered to be edema, which was measured using a dial caliper. Plasma and paw tissue were collected to analyze the production of inflammatory mediators, such as NO, PGE2

Utilizing remote sensing for studying Al-Saadya Marsh in the period 1987-2017
...Show More Authors

The marshes are one of the important environmental features affecting human and animal systems, so the studying of changes they undergo is one of the important topics. This study is concerned with the changes occurring in the Al Saadya marsh for the period from 1987 to 2017 exclusively in the winter season (the marshes’ revival season in Iraq revive). In order to inspect the changes in this marsh, we choose 7 years to cover the study period as a criterion years, namely 1987, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2007, 2014 and 2017. The “Maximum Likelihood” classifier was used to separate the stacked land cover features, where the minimum overall accuracy ratio that recorded for all years of study was 96%. The results revealed that Al-Saadya marsh went t

Analyzing Earth’s Surface Temperatures with Relationship to Land Urban Land Cover (LULC) to Enhance Sustainability
...Show More Authors

Sustainability includes maintaining the quality of life in the long term and preserving resources so that they reach future generations with good efficiency. Urbanization and government procedures followed cause the current form of land cover (LULC), which affects the land surface temperature (LST). The temperature rise can be linked to land use changes on the surface of the Earth, because there are few studies on the thermal behavior of cities in the southern and eastern regions of Iraq, therefore the research aimed to study the relationship between temperature variation and LC changes in QS District in Maysan Governorate using Remote sensing and geographic information system. The study used Landsat 8 imagery to draw a map of land cover an

Using the AHP Methodology for Managing Cities' Slums to Reach Urban Sustainability
...Show More Authors

A major issue in urban areas is the expansion of slums coupled with poor city planning. One of the areas encountering these challenges is Hit City, where the economy, society, services, environment, and other domains are significantly impacted. The research intends to utilize the AHP method as it serves as an excellent approach for selecting the best strategies to tackle slums. The present research used a clear and detailed method to look at several important factors, such as urban data, services and infrastructure, the economy, the environment, ownership, and how well it fits with the main plan, roads, and the costs of solutions. This helped check if the decisions were consistent and led to a final ranking of options: development, regulati

ABSTRACT The study summarized the experiences of international humanitarian organizations in implementing psychosocial support activities in the post-ISIS war and the crises it left behind. Objectives: To explore the mechanisms for implementing psychosocial support activities in Iraqi governorates affected by the conflict, to determine the extent to which psychosocial support activities align with international humanitarian policies, and to review the most important challenges facing their work. Methods: The study relied on a descriptive (ethnographic) qualitative approach, with tools including interviews conducted with 35 participants (project managers, psychosocial support staff, beneficiaries, and international organization staff). An ob

Economic sustainability in state-owned extractive industries: a dynamic pricing framework for the Iraqi mining sector
...Show More Authors

This study provides an empirical and strategic contribution to the revenue management literature by investigating the transition from static cost-plus pricing to a dynamic, elasticity-based framework within state-owned extractive industries (SOEs). While dynamic pricing is extensively studied in flexible, data-rich private markets, its application in structurally rigid SOEs within transitional economies remains a critical research gap. Drawing on primary fiscal and production data from the 2024 fiscal year of the General Company for Mining Industries (SCMI), we developed a mathematical model to determine optimal pricing ( ) based on marginal cost principles and demand elasticity. The findings demonstrate that replacing rigid accounting rout

POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT AND HYDROLOGICAL DECLINE: IRAQ’S WATER SECURITY TRANSFORMATION BEFORE AND AFTER 2003
...Show More Authors

Iraq's water crisis represents one of the most pressing environmental and socioeconomic challenges facing the country today. This study examines the evolution of water resource problems in Iraq through a comprehensive historical comparison between the pre-2003 period under Saddam Hussein's regime and the post-2003 era following the U.S.-led invasion and subsequent political transformation. The research employs a mixed-method approach, analyzing quantitative data on water flow rates, infrastructure development, and qualitative assessments of policy impacts across both periods. Key findings reveal that while the pre-2003 period was characterized by deliberate environmental destruction, particularly the draining of the Mesopotamian Marshes, an

Objective This research investigates Breast Cancer real data for Iraqi women, these data are acquired manually from several Iraqi Hospitals of early detection for Breast Cancer. Data mining techniques are used to discover the hidden knowledge, unexpected patterns, and new rules from the dataset, which implies a large number of attributes. Methods Data mining techniques manipulate the redundant or simply irrelevant attributes to discover interesting patterns. However, the dataset is processed via Weka (The Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) platform. The OneR technique is used as a machine learning classifier to evaluate the attribute worthy according to the class value. Results The evaluation is performed using
