MICROFACIE STUDY OF SUBSURFACE SECTION OF BEKHME FORMATION (NORTH IRAQ)

Bekhme formation, Dernir Dagh well -1 has been divided into two facies units using core
sample slides and depending on sedimentary structures and diagenetic processes .The facies
reflect the environment of the foreslope. This work proves the absence of Bekhme formation
in Dernir Dagh
Well- 1 as a tongue as reported by the Oil Exploration Company. Some species and genera of
bentonic foraminifera were identified. The age of Bekhme formation was estimated
depending on the recognized index fossils to be lower Maastrichtian.

Manufacture of Portland Cement from Claystone of Nfayil Formation Middle Miocene, in Southern Desert of Iraq

The research aims to assess the claystone exposed in the Nfayil Formation (Middle Miocene) for Portland cement (P.C.) manufacturing based on mineralogy and geochemistry. The importance of the study is to avoid the miming of the agricultural soils that are mining now for the cement industry. Claystones of Nfayil Formation and the limestone of the Euphrates Formation were used to design the raw mixture as clay to limestone (1:3). The chemical composition (%) of the designed mixture was calculated using the Alligation Alternative Method (A.A.M.) as CaO (65.52), MgO (1.05), SiO2 (21.65), Al2O3 (7.43), Fe2O3 (2.62), Na2O3+K2O (1.52) and SO3 (0.26), which are suitable for P.C. The lime saturation factor (LSF = 92.8), silica saturation fac

Myxobolus Infections of the Cyprinid Fishes from Lesser Zab and Greater Zab Rivers, North of Iraq with the Record of Seven Species of Myxobolus for the First Time in Iraq

A total of 1453 freshwater fishes, belonging to 14 species of the
family Cyprinidae was collected from Lesser Zab and Greater Zab
rivers in north of Iraq during the period from November 2000 to the
end of November 2001. The inspection of skin, gills and different
internal organs revealed the infection of these fishes with a total of 14
species of Myxobolus which included seven species that represented
their first record in Iraq. These species included M. bulbocordis from
both Barbus sharpeyi and Chondrostoma regium; M. karuni from B
grypus; M. mesopotamiae from B. luteus; M. molnári from B
esocinus; M. pcrsicus from both B. grypus and Cyprinion macrostomum;
M.  Shaagani from both B. b

Impact of North African Sand and Dust Storms on the Middle East Using Iraq as an Example: Causes, Sources, and Mitigation

This study aims to determine the reasons for the increase in the frequency of sand and dust storms in the Middle East and to identify their sources and mitigate them. A set of climatic data from 60 years (1960–2022) was analyzed. Sand storms in Iraq are a silty sand mature arkose composed of 72.7% sand, 25.1% silt, and 2.19% clay; the clay fraction in dust storms constitutes 70%, with a small amount of silt (20.6%) and sand (9.4%). Dust and sand storms (%) are composed of quartz (49.2, 67.1), feldspar (4.9, 20.9), calcite (38, 5), gypsum (4.8, 0.4), dolomite (0.8, 1.0), and heavy minerals (3.2, 6.6). Increasing temperatures in Iraq, by an average of 2 °C for sixty years, have contributed to an increase in the number of dust storm

Study of rock slope stability of formation outcrops in Hamrin Anticline /NE Tikrit.

This Study aims to engineering geological evaluation of Fatha and Injana Formations in northern Hamrin anticline throughout geological and engineering geological Survey including Preparing engineering geological map (Scale1:90000) and Studying rock Slopes Stability in (6) Stations ,representing all types of failures (taken place and possible).General Survey for rock Slopes included Classification and engineering description according to [1], [2]. The slopes in the area are Classified based on the direction of the Strike Slopes and Strike of beds into Parallel, Oblique Lateral and orthogonal Slopes according to [3].Classification and the Slope Types are Concordant Slope and discordant Slope . The rocks in the area consists of two engineer

Approaches to the formation of a contemporary explanatory mindset: Critical inductive study

The issue of the development of Qur'anic studies for the tasks, and the first thought of minds and multiple understandings, and the most precious ideas, and the alternatives were floated, and varied visions, especially as we live in an era exploding knowledge, and complicate secretions, and scramble his ideas, and to devise intellectual approaches To achieve the witnesses of civilization in the words of the Almighty (to be martyrs on the people) Surat Al - Baqarah / 143 attendance and participation in the achievement and a positive interaction with the participants of humanity and civilization in the light of the meaning (to know) rooms / 13.

Study of Light and Heavy Minerals and Their Effect on Oil Aggregation in the Zubair Formation for the Rumaila Oil Field in Southern Iraq

Zubair Formation is the most productive reservoir in southern Iraq, which is comprised of sandstones, interbedded with shale sequences and sometimes carbonate rock. It is an important formation in the lower Cretaceous cycle in Iraq. Rumaila oil field is the largest oil field in Iraq and the 6th in the world. Two wells were studied for three depths, one in the southern Rumaila and the other in the north. The study focused on light and heavy minerals in sand fractions and their relationship with hydrocarbon assemblages. For the survey to be complete, the sedimentological study of the cores was also conducted. This research aims to determine the effect of the amount of heavy and light minerals on the generation and production of
