The aim of present work is to study the removal of phenol present in aqueous feed solution by the emulsion liquid membrane technique using kerosene as a diluent, sodium hydroxide as a stripping agent, and sorbitan monooleate (Span 80) as a surfactant. The parameters studied were: surfactant concentration, volume ratio of membrane phase to internal phase, and stirring speed. It was found that more than 98% of phenol can be removed at the conditions were surfactant concentration 2% (v/v), volume ratio of membrane phase to internal phase 5:1 and stirring speed 400 rpm. In this study the radon gas concentration in air in Al - Haswaa city in province of Baghdad in Iraq have been calculated using CR-39 solid–state nuclear track detector technique. A total of 8 samples selected from 8 region in Al – Haswaa city in province of Baghdad have been placed in the dosimeters for 30 day. The average radon gas concentration was found to be 486.26 Bq/m3 which is lower than the standard international limit (1100 Bq/m3). The potential alpha energy concentration and annual effective dose have been calculated. A proportional relationship between the annual effective dose and radon gas concentration within the studied region has been certified.

Five subsurface sections covering the entire length of the Jeribe Limestone Formation (Early Middle Miocene) were studied from four oilfields in northern Iraq. It is hoped to unravel this formation microfacies ; depositional environment; diagenetic attributes and their parental processes; and the relationship between these processes and the observed porosity patterns.
