TUMBLING FLOWER BEETLES (COLEOPTERA, MORDELLIDAE) OF IRAQ
...Show More Authors

The present study was undertaken to determine the species of tumbling flower beetles (Coleoptera, Mordellidae) found in Iraq. Specimens have been collected from different localities of Iraq since 1970. Results show that the tumbling flower beetles (Mordellidae) are represented with a total of 13 species belonging to four genera of three tribes, two of these species were described by Dr. Horak (1985,1990) as new species for Iraq Mediimorda maceki HoraK and Mordellistena bolognaHorak; two were previously reported Stenalia escherichi Schilsk and Mordellistena pumila (Gyllenhal) and ten are new records for Iraq. Stenalia araxicola Khnzorian, Stenalia brunneipennis Mulsant, Variimorda fasciata (Fabricious), Variimorda holzschuhi Horak, Mordellistena horaki Pino., Mordellistena kraatzi Emery, Mordellistena sp. prob. Micans Gemar, Mordellistena sp. near microspmelicte Ermish, Mordellistena paraepisterna Ermisch and Mordellistena pseudorugipennis Ermisch.

Structural subsurface model of Samawa-Diwan area (south of Iraq)
...Show More Authors

Seismic instantaneous phase attribute was applied for conventional seismic interpretation (structural interpretation) on 3D seismic cube of 1914.72km² of Samawa-Diwan area, located in the south part of Iraq within Muthna governorate. Instantaneous phase section is very important to detect structural and stratigraphic features. Six reflectors represent Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous formations were defined from synthetic seismogram of wells in study area, then picked over seismic cube. Fault boundaries maps for each horizon were drawn depending on horizon contacts then fault planes were constructed. Finally, a 3D structural model was constructed in time domain, then converted to depth domain by using 3D average velocity model. Structurall

Evaluating Implementation of Electric Power Generation Projects in Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Iraq has witnessed development in many fields and the electricity production sector is one of the most important of these fields. This is attributed to the State’s philosophy in supporting this sector through the development of economic development projects to serve and raise the level of the Iraqi individual. Electricity production in Iraq is affected by many variables such as load growth, economic and financial conditions, planning, etc. All these led to a disparity in the production of electric power to cover the demand for energy. The paper deals with the electricity generation sector overview in Iraq, Analysis of the effects of variables on the implementation of power generatio
... Show More

Seropidemiology Of Human Hydatidosis In Kirkuk And Tikrit/ Iraq
...Show More Authors

Background: Hydatid disease is a serious infection of man caused by larval stage (hydatid) of the small dog tapeworm. Serological tests are important in the diagnosis of hydatid
disease.
Objectives: The study was carried out to detect the rate of seropositivity of hydatid cysts in Kirkuk and Tikrit cities.
Materials and Methods: The retrospective hospital based and seroepidemiological studies were carried out in Kirkuk and Tikrit cities, during the period from beginning of January
2000 until the end of October 2003. The hospital based study included 125-hydatid cyst operations in hospitals of Kirkuk (82) and Tikrit (43). The serological tests used for
detection of hydatid cysts antibody were latex agglu

NEW RECORD SPECIES OF GENUS ASTRAGALUS L. IN IRAQ
...Show More Authors

Astragalus mesogitanus is a new recorded species for Iraqi flora, from Onobrychium genus section, was collected from Erbil district, all morphological features were described in details as well as some micromorphological character as the trichomes and were provided with dimensions and plates, section key was also updated which illustrated the importance of standard (corolla) trichomes in species identification. Keywords: Astragalus, Fabaceae, Iraq, New record, Onobrychium, Trichomes.

Geochemistry of Sabkhas in Abu Ghraib, Western Baghdad, Iraq
...Show More Authors

The study aims to detail the chemistry of Sabkha located in Abu-Graib, western Baghdad to know the content of the rare elements distributed. Sabkhas are found in dry areas with significant evaporation rates. The quantity of dissolved salts rises as water evaporates from the shallow basins, eventually causing salt to crystallize. The creation of the distinctive salt pans and crusts on the top is greatly influenced by this process. The trace elements (Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Sn, Ba, Ta, Tl, Pb, Th, U, I, and Br) beside the major oxides were analyzed using XRF technique. There are no clear significant differences in the distribution of the elements between the two Sabkhas in the village of Kadim Al

Pollen Morphology of Stachys L. Spp. Growing in Iraq
...Show More Authors

The present work included new information about pollen of eighteen Spp. of Stachys L. in Iraq ;showed their importance in diagnostsis.

Pollen shapes in equatorial view were ellipsoid in most spp .and spherical - subspherical , spherical - subprolate and subprolate -

ellipsoid in others; while they were spherical - subspherical in polar

view . Pollen was tricolpate except St.iberica M.B.georgica Rech.f. &

Ten. Which has tetracolpate and that was new for the genus.

The smallest pollen were seen in St.kotschyi Boiss. & Hohen. but the biggest were in St.benthamiana Boiss.

The study area is located in the eastern part of the Diyala Governorate close to the Iraqi-Iranian border. This study was set to investigate the hydrogeological calculations of northeast of Qazaniyah wells where the groundwater moves in directions of from the northeastern parts towards the southwestern par, that is, the same direction of the topography and the same direction of the tendency of the layers t. The study‘s region is characterized by visible geological layers or those that can be penetrated to a reasonable depth by wells which are sedimentary rocks deposited in continental or semi-continental conditions in the bays. From the study of the hydraulic properties of the two hydrogeological and exemplary systems, the values of tr
