The study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial activity using different concentrations of aqueous and alcoholic extracts of dried lemongrass leaves. Chemical phytochemical tests were performed for aqueous and alcoholic extracts of lemongrass. Antimicrobials activity was tested using agar disc diffusion method against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The results of the study showed that the aqueous extract of dried lemon leaves was highly effective (P≤0.05) against S. aureus, as the inhibition diameter was 22 mm for 50 dilution, while the inhibition diameter decreased to 15 mm for concentration 100. As for the alcoholic extract only, the diameter of inhibition decreased significantly (P≤0.05) as it was 16 mm for 50 dilution, and the diameter of inhibition decreased significantly (P≤0.05) to 8 mm for concentration 100 for S. aureus as well. The results of the study also showed that the effect of the alcoholic extract of lemongrass against E. coli was high, as the inhibition diameter was 20 mm for dilution 50, and a significant decrease (P≤0.05) fell to 12 mm for concentration 100. While the results of the study showed that the effect of alcoholic extract of lemongrass against E. coli the diameter of the inhibition was 14 mm for the dilution of 50, and it decreased significantly (P≤0.05) to zero for the concentration of 100. Seasonally variations in Physio-chemical parameters of Al-Auda Marsh were investigated from November 2012 to July 2013. In this research examine pH, turbidity, EC, DO, BOD5 and Ca+2, Mg+2, NO2 , NO3 , PO4 , SiO3 ions. Six sites were randomly located and water samples. pH values varied from (7.3 ±0.0) in site 4 during autumn to (8.5±0.5) in site 6 during winter, EC values ranged from (2020±186) μ.s/cm in site 5 during autumn to (6390±875) μ.s/cm in site 6 during summer, mean turbidity data were found to vary from (6.5 ±1.8) NTU in site 4 in summer to (31.0 ±1.6) NTU in site 3 in autumn. Show MoreIn this study the melting point and hardness of the paraffin wax was improved by mixing it with 1:1 ratio of micro crystalline wax then adding weight percentage wt% of locally produced nano particles (CuO,ZnO,AI2O3 and bentonite ) for each addition to the wax mixture. The results showed an increase in the melting point and hardness values of the prepared samples by increasing the weight percentage of each nano particles additives. . It was found that the addition of nano bentonite to the wax mixture gave high melting point values (122.5°C)and hardness (81.2)followed by melting point value (97°C)and hardness(68.2)resulting from the addition of CuO nano particles to the wax mixture compared to other used nano particles.

Influence of metal nanoparticles synthesized by microorganisms upon soil-borne microscopic fungus Aspergillus terreus K-8 was studied. It was established that the metal nanoparticles synthesized by microorganisms affect the enzymatic activity of the studied culture. Silver nanoparticles lead to a decrease in cellulase activity and completely suppress the amylase activity of the fungus, while copper nanoparticles completely inhibit the activity of both the cellulase complex and amylase. The obtained results imply that the large-scale use of silver and copper nanoparticles may disrupt biological processes in the soil and cause change in the physiological and biochemical state of soil-borne microorganisms as well.
Flavonoids were extracted from Zizyphus spina-christi leaves by Ethyl acetate after acid digested and used as antioxidant.
