This work aimed to identify biosurfactant-producing bacterial strains isolated from hydrocarbon-contaminatedsites and to evaluate their biosurfactant properties. The drop-collapse method and minimal agar added witha layer of diesel as carbon source were used for screening, positive strains were able to grow in a liquidmedium, and surface tension and emulsification index were determined in cell-free supernatant and cellsuspension. 250 bacterial isolate were tested, and 16 were positive for the drop-collapse and hydrocarbonlayer agar method. Assessment of trace elements pollutants were conducted for 18 sediment samples collected in March 2017. Trace elements were analyzed in sediment Tigris River samples in Wasit Governorate. The effect of different doses of gamma rays that emitted from 60Co on the development of different stages of lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica (Fab.) was investigated . The results showed that the eggs in both early (1-3 days) and late (7-9) old were very sensitive to gamma rays and its hatch was zero at 10 Gy for both ages in comparison with 83.3% for the control group.
