A new, simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of sulfamethoxazole in both pure form and pharmaceutical preparations has been reported. The adapted technique based on utilization 4-aminobenzene sulfonic acid as a new modern chromogenic through an oxidative coupling reaction with sulfamethoxazole and potassium iodate in basic media to form orange soluble dye product with absorption maxima at 490 nm. Subject to Beer's law in the range 2–32μg mL-1. The values of molarabsorption coefficient (ε) and correlation coefficient were found to be 9.118 × 103 and0.9999 respectively whereas the Sandels index was 0. 02778 µg.cm-2.

Spectrophotometric Kinetic Methods for the Determination of Paracetamol in Pure Form and Pharmaceutical Preparations
...Show More Authors

Simple and sensitive kinetic methods are developed for the determination of Paracetamol in pure form and in pharmaceutical preparations. The methods are based on direct reaction (oxidative-coupling reaction) of Paracetamol with o-cresol in the presence of sodium periodate in alkaline medium, to form an intense blue-water-soluble dye that is stable at room temperature, and was followed spectrophotometriclly at λmax= 612 nm. The reaction was studied kinetically by Initial rate and fixed time (at 25 minutes) methods, and the optimization of conditions were fixed. The calibration graphs for drug determination were linear in the concentration ranges (1-7 μg.ml-1) for the initial rate and (1-10 μg.ml-1) for the fixed time methods at 25 min.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Tetracycline Hydrochloride in Pure Form and Pharmaceutical Preparation by Coupling with Diazotized Anthranilic Acid
...Show More Authors

A simple, fast and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been applied for the determination of tetracycline hydrochloride in its pure form and in pharmaceutical preparations. The method based on coupling reaction of the antibiotic with diazotized anthranilic acid to form a stable yellow azo dye which shows a maximum absorption at 419 nm. Uni- and multivariate approaches were followed in optimizing the experimental conditions. Under optimum experimental conditions obtained via multivariate (Central Composite Design), the linearity of the constructed calibration curve was in the range of 0.560 μg.mL-1 with molar absorptivity of 14619 L.mol-1.cm-1 and the value of detection limit was 0.2813μg.mL-1. The capability of the metho

Spectrophotometric Determination of Diclofenac sodium Using 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in Pure Form and Pharmaceutical Preparations
...Show More Authors

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of diclofenac sodium (DCL), in pure form and pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the oxidation of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (2,4-DNPH) and coupling of the oxidized product with DCL in alkaline medium to give intensively colored chromogen which exhibits maximum absorption (λmax) at 600 nm, and the concentration of DCL was determined spectrophotometrically. The optimum reaction conditions and other analytical parameters were evaluated. In addition to classical univariate optimization, modified simplex method (MSM) has been applied in optimization of the variables affecting the color producing reaction. Beer’s law is obeyed in the

Spectrophotometric Assay of Salbutamol Sulphate in Pharmaceutical Preparations by Coupling with Diazotized ρ-bromoaniline
...Show More Authors

In this research, salbutamol sulphate (SAS) has been determined by a simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method. Salbutamol sulphate in this method is based on the coupling of SAS with diazotized ρ- bromoaniline reagent in alkaline medium of Triton X-100 (Tx) to form an orange azo dye which is stable and water-soluble. The azo dye is exhibiting maximum absorption at 441 nm. A 10 - 800 µg of SAS is obeyed of Beer's law in a final volume of 20 ml, i.e., 0.5- 40 ppm with ε, the molar absorptivity of 48558 L.mol-1.cm-1 and Sandell's sensitivity index of 0.01188 µg.cm-2. This new method does not need solvent extraction or temperature control which is well applied to determine SAS in d

Two Spectrophotometric Methods Based on Diazotization Coupling Reaction for Determination of Genistein in Pure and Supplement
...Show More Authors

Genistein (GEN) is one of the predominant dietary isoflavones found in legumes such as soybeans. Genistein has been recommended as an osteoporosis treatment for postmenopausal women and elderly men, with the intention of reducing cardiovascular disease and hormone-dependent malignancies. Therefore, two sensitive and simple methods for quantifying it in the supplements preparation were developed. The first method (A) comprised employing the surfactant Triton X-114 to extract the result of the diazotization reaction with 4-Aminoacetophenone(4AMA) utilizing a cloud point extraction technique. The product was extracted using micelles of a non-ionic surfactant (TritonX-114) and then spectrophotometrically detected at a specified wa

Spectrophotometric Determination of Sulfamethoxazole Following Simple Diazotization and Coupling with Diphenylamine
...Show More Authors

Simple, sensitive, accurate and inexpensive spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) in pure and dosage forms. This method is based on diazotization of primary amine group of sulfamethoxazole with sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid followed by coupling with diphenylamine in acidic medium to obtain a stable blue colored dye and show a maximum absorption (max) at 530 nm. Different variables affecting the completion of reaction have been carefully optimized, following the classical univariate sequence and modified simplex method. Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range of (0.5-12.0 µg.mL-1) with molar absorptivity of 4.9617×104 L.mol-1.cm-1. The

Spectrophotometric Determination of Amiodarone Hydrochloride in Pharmaceutical Preparations
...Show More Authors

Amiodarone hydrochloride (AH) has been determined spectrophotometrically Using methyl orange (MO).  In our previous researches MO was used for determination of Mexiletine Hydrochloride [1]. The method based on complexation between MO and AH.  After shaking and diluting the complex solution with D.W, the pH was adjusted with NaOH and HCl to pH 3. The colored complex formed between AH and the reagent were transferred into separating funnels and extracted using 5.5ml CH2Cl2 and were shaken for (5 minutes).  The extracted organic layer was used for preparation of the calibration curves for spectrophotometric measurements of AH at 434nm.  The blanks were carried out in exactly the same way throughout the whole procedure.&n

A simple, accurate and precise spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of Mefenamic acid(MA) in dosage forms. Proposed  method based on the reaction of cited drug with 1,2-Naphthoquinone-4-Sulfonic sodium (NQS). The optimum experimental condition have been studied. Beer's Law is obeyed in the concentration range 0.5-10.0 µg/mL at 450nm with detection limit of 0.189µg/mL.  Effect of pH, reaction time, and volume of NQS on the determination of Mefenamic acid, have been examined. The proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of  Mefenamic acid in pharmaceutical preparations.
