ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF EDIBLE FILM FROM WHEY PROTIEN ISOLATE INCORPORTED WITH GREEN TEA EXTRACT AND ITS USE IN CHEESE COATIN: ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF EDIBLE FILM FROM WHEY PROTIEN ISOLATE INCORPORTED WITH GREEN TEA EXTRACT AND ITS USE IN CHEESE COATIN
...Show More Authors

The aim of the current research is to study the effect of adding green tea to the edible film prepared from the whey protein isolate on the effectiveness of microorganisms and evaluating the of antimicrobial effectiveness of these films on Iraqi soft cheese packaging during the nine days of storage as an alternative to commercial packaging. At the beginning of the study, the minimum inhibitory concentration was measured by calculate the diameter of the zone of inhibition on growth of the bacteria and it's included the group of Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa) and the group of Gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus Aureus, Bacillus spp) and a yeast (Candida Albican). Where the diameter of the halos formed (11, 20, 10, 7, 14, 16) respectively. The changes in the microbial numbers were also observed during the storage period. In this study, two treatments of Iraqi soft cheese were used. The first treatment of the cheese was uncoated as a control treatment (T1 treatment) & the second treatment of the cheese (T2 treatment) was coated with the film of the whey protein supported by the green tea extract. The results of the experiments were conducted to estimate the numbers of microorganisms indicate that there are significant differences in the last days of storage Between the two treatments and at a significant level of 0.05 in both the total count bacteria and total coliform bacteria and staphylococcus number, The numbers of bacteria have decreased about 1-2 Logarithmic CFU/gm, and approximately 2-3 Logarithmic CFU/gm in relation to the number of staphylococcus aureus. It was also found that there were significant differences at a significant level of 0.05 Between the T2 treatment of Iraqi soft cheese models compared to the T2 treatment for the number of sychrotrophic bacteria and the reduction in numbers was approximately 2-3 Logarithmic CFU/gm, and the number of molds and yeast decreased by 0.5-1.5 Logarithmic CFU/gm, The treatment of cheese packaging has increased the age of cheese the results of the sensory evaluation of T1 (non-coated cheese) and T2 were improved that the coated cheese was obtained a higher grades during the storage period.

The Use of Left Ventricular Myocardial Stiffness Index as a Predictor of Myocardial Performance in Patients with Systemic Hypertension
...Show More Authors

Our aim was to investigate the changes in the myocardium stiffness index for patients suffering from systemic hypertension, and to assess their left ventricular performance. We studied 263 hypertensive patients and 166 healthy subjects as a control group. By using conventional Doppler echocardiography, the following parameters were measured—Left ventricular end diastolic diameter, left ventricular end systolic diameter, transmitral early velocity, isovolumic relaxation time, and isovolumic contraction time. Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) was used in the measurements of the early mitral annular velocity (Ea) and the diastolic stiffness was obtained by calculating the ratio E\Ea\LVIDd. Index myocardial performance (IMP) was calculated

Survey study of intestinal parasites on Fresh vegetables collected from some Baghdad Sales and its role in human infection
...Show More Authors

Fresh vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet. The consumption of raw vegetables without cooking or good washing can be a major rout of transmission to the parasitic infection. The goal of this study was to determine the intestinal parasitic contamination of fresh vegetables from vegetables sales markets in Baghdad province during the different above months of the year. A total of 303 samples of different vegetables were randomly selected from three wholesale markets distributed through different regions in Baghdad (East, West and South) and then were examined by a floatation method. The present study showed that the collected vegetables were contaminated with 12 species of intestinal parasites, and the total percentage of contam

Background: The final stage of endodontic therapy is complete obturation of the root canal system to provide as perfect as possible at the cementodentinal junction of the apical foramen. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the sealing ability of injection molded thermoplasticized gutta percha and lateral condensation techniques with and without the use of sealers. Materials and Methods: Forty freshly extracted adult human maxillary central incisors with complete formed apices were utilized in this study. The teeth were randomly divided into four groups for evaluation of the apical seal. Group (1) lateral condensation gutta percha technique without sealer, (2) lateral condensation gutta percha technique with sealer, (3) Inject

Status of CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc Scores in Predicting Risk of Stroke and its Prevention in Iraqi Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
...Show More Authors

Atrial fibrillation is associates with elevated risk of stroke. The simplest stroke risk assessment schemes are CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc score. Aspirin and oral anticoagulants are recommended for stroke prevention in such patients.

The aim of this study was to  assess status of CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc scores in Iraqi atrial fibrillation patients and to report current status of stroke prevention in these patients with either warfarin or aspirin in relation to these scores.

This prospective cross-sectional study was carried out at Tikrit, Samarra, Sharqat, Baquba, and AL-Numaan hospitals from July 2017 to October 2017. CHADS2

Synthesis of New 2, 4, 5-triphenyl imidazole Derivatives Derived from benzoin and Studying their Biological Activity
...Show More Authors

compound [1] was formed from the reaction of benzoin and benzaldehyde in the presence of ammonia, which was reacted with sodium hydride in DMF to obtain imidazole salt. This salt was reacted with adipoyl chloride to give compound [2]. Acid hydrazide derivative [3] was obtained from the reaction of compound [2] with hydrazine hydrate. After that Shiff bases [4-9] have been synthesized from the reaction of compound [3] with different aromatic aldehydes. These new formed compounds were diagnosed by 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR for some of them (in Ahl-Albate University in Jordan) and FT-IR spectroscopy (In Baghdad University). All of the prepared products have been studied their biological activities toward two kinds of bacteria. These products show

Antagonistic activity of Rhizospheric bacteria and Arbuscular Mycorrhiza isolated from Iraqi soil against fungal pathogen Macrophomina phaseolina
...Show More Authors

The antagonism of the rhizospheric bacteria toward pathogenic fungi Macrophomina phaseolina was investigated. Ten soil samples were collected from the rhizospheric zone around Cowpea root (Vignaunguiculata L.). These samples were used as the source of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and rhizobacterial isolates. Twenty-five bacteria were isolated and evaluated as an antagonistic agent against pathogenic fungi. M. phaseolina was isolated from infected roots of Cowpea and used as a pathogen.
