Background: Schneiderian first rank symptoms are
considered highly valuable in the diagnosis of
schneideria.
They are more evident in the acute phase of the
disorder and fading gradually with time. Many studies
have shown that the rate of these symptoms are
variable in different countries and are colored by
cultural beliefs and values.
Objectives: To find out the rate of Schneiderian first
rank symptoms among newly diagnosed schizophrenic
patients, to assess which symptom(s) might
predominate in those patients, and to find out if there
is/are any correlation(s) between the occurrence of
these symptoms and the sex of the patients.
Methods: Out of twenty-four patients with no past
psychiatric history and whom were diagnosed as
Schizophrenia for their first time depending on
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-4th Edition-Text
Revised criteria for diagnosis were evaluated for the
presence of Schneiderian First Rank Symptoms by
using a semi-structured interview schedule.
Results: Out of twenty -three patients (54.7%) had
present with one or more Schneiderian First Rank
Symptoms.' Third person Hallucinatory Voices",
"running Commentary Hallucinatory Voices', and "
Somatic Passivity" were present more frequently than
other symptoms.
The study revealed no sex differences in regard of the
occurrences of the Schneiderian (FRS). More than 82%
of those who had the symptoms showed more than one
symptom.
Conclusions: Many factors influence the presence or
absence of Schneiderian First Rank Symptoms among
schizophrenic patients including the criteria selected
for the diagnosis of the disorder, the tools adopted for
the detection of these symptoms, the duration of the
illness, and probably patient's cultural background.
Although there are individual differences of First Rank
Symptoms among different cultures, still we expect
certain symptoms to be present more than others. The
influence of cultural factors in altering the basic
symptoms of psychiatric illnesses is of great
importance
The relationship between chronic hepatitis B virus and Helicobacter pylori infection was evaluated to determine, seventy five patients with chronic hepatitis B infection (8-70 years) were investigated. The results were compared with the results of 50 healthy volunteers. Anti-H. pylori antibodies IgA and IgG were measured by Indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) in sera of patients and healthy groups. This studay was performd on 30 serum specimens of patients having type II diabetes with cardiac disease, and 40 normal specimens were investigated as control group.The activity rate of AAP in patients (125.31± 3.28)I.U/L and activity rate of AAP in normals (6.76±2.21) I.U/L, in addition purification of AAP from serum patients having type II diabetes with cardiac diaease by using dialysis bag and gel filtration (Sephadex G-50). The results of the study reveal that Alanine aminopeptidase (AAP) activity of type II diabetes with cardiac disease patients' serum show a high signifiacant increase (p<0.001) compare to normal subject .
Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory chronic disease with an autoimmune pathogenesis. To determine the role of Helicobacter pylori as a trigger agent, twenty five patients with rheumatoid arthritis of ages (15-47) years have been investigated and compared with twenty healthy individuals. All the studied groups were carried out to measure the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) IgM, anti-CCP antibody IgG and IgA by ELISA test and by measured anti-IgG antibody level of H. pylori by using ELISA and IFAT techniques. The present study showed significant differences (P< 0.05) of anti-H. Pylori in sera of RA patients than control group, this lead to suggest that H. pylori had a role in pathogenesis of RA.

Three hundred and fifty five patients with hepatitis were investigated in this study all cases gave negative result with HBs Ag , IgM-anti HCV , IgM-anti HEV, IgM-anti HDV and anti-HIV tests . The frequency of IgM-anti HAV was 113 and the percentage was 32 % in all ages but when these patients divided into five groups dependent on ages. The highest percentage of IgM-anti HAV was (45%) in age <10 and the percentage declined with age increase till to 9% in age >41 year.
