Background: Recurrent laryngeal nerve injury is
an important post-thyroidectomy complication for
which different modalities of treatment were
practiced to lower its incidence.
Objectives: To estimate the incidence of
recurrent laryngeal nerve injury in thyroid surgeries
in relation to type of surgery, type of gland diseases
& nerve identification.
Methods: Different types of goiters prepared
preoperatively by indirect laryngoscopy, operated
upon with different types of surgeries, postoperative
direct laryngoscopy by the anaesthetist were done
and indirect laryngoscopy done as needed.
Results: Of of 200 patients, the overall incidence
of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury was 9
Patients (4.5%), 7 patients (77.8%) were unilateral
nerve injury & 2 patients (22.2%) were bilateral
nerve injury. The percent of temporary nerve injury
was 8 patients (88.89%) & permanent injury 1
patient (11.11%).the incidence of injury in females
was (4.57%) & in males was (4%). Injury was 1
patient out of 13 (7.69%) in total thyroidectomy, 1
patient out of 11 (9.09%) in completion
thyroidectomy. Injury in malignant goiter was 2
patients (10%).finally it was higher if nerve was not
identified (6.15%) than if identified (1.42%).
Conclusion: Recurrent laryngeal nerve injury is
more in malignant goiters, in more extensive
surgery & if peroperative nerve identification was
not practiced.
Thyroid hemiagenesis (THA) is a rare congenital anomaly in which one lobe of thyroid gland fails to develop during embryological stage. Agenesis may be unilateral, total or isthmic. Left thyroid lobe is more commonly involved than right lobe in hemiagenesis. Agenesis of the isthmus was seen in 50% of cases. Left sided hemiagenesis is more common than right sided hemiagenesis with a Left to right ratio of 4:1. Clinically patients can be euthyroid, hypothyroid or hyperthyroid. Often it is diagnosed as an incidental finding during ultrasonography (USG) study of neck, which can easily diagnose this condition.
Actual incidence of THA is unknown; most cases are diagnosed in patients admitted for thyroid scan or thyroid surgery because

mam causes of mortality rates especially in low socio- economic level countries. The child can be
easily got dehydration and pass from loss of too much body fluid and due to the Common thoueht of
increasing the incidence of diarrhea during summer season, this study is done to find out the relation
between the high incidences rate of diarrhea and weather variation
Methodology: This survey conducted in AL- Markazi Child's Teaching Hospital for the year 2005 the
data were gathered from hospital records for the period (January - December) and age groups

Background: Accurate detection of thyroid autoantibodies by enzyme linked immunosorbant assay technique namely thyroglobulin antibody, thyroid peroxides antibody is crucial in the differentiation of autoimmune thyroid disorders from other form of thyroid diseases.
Objective: Evaluation of the detection of thyroglobulin antibody and thyroid peroxides antibody in different thyroid diseases using enzyme linked immunosorbant assay technique.
Methods: - Seventy-five patients admitted to Surgical Units of Baghdad Medical City Hospital for the period between "October 2010 to June 2011" they were waiting to do thyroidectomy. They were chosen nonselectively for serological evaluation of above autoantibodies , and correlation of the results
Abstract Kidney stones are one of the most common and most painful medical problems known (1). Nurses assess and monitor patients through diagnosis and treatment and teach patients how to avoid recurrence of stones (2). A descriptive study was conducted on 150 patients diagnosed with recurrent kidney stones, who were attending the out patients consultation urology disease clinics at surgical specialties, Al-Kadhimia, Al-Yarmook, and Al-Karama Teaching Hospital and Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) departments for the period from the 1st of Feb. 2002 through to the end of May 2004. Background: Recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is an inflammatory condition of unknown etiology characterized by painful recurrent (single or multiple) ulcerations of the oral mucosa. It is one of the most common and poorly understood mucosal disorders. It occurs more frequently in times of stress. Local and systemic conditions, genetic, immunologic, microbial factors, and oxidative stress may play a role in the pathogenesis of RAU. The objective of this study was to evaluate the free radical metabolism and antioxidant activity of RAU patients treated by lavender or flax oil paint.
Materials and Methods: Sixty-six RAU patients were enroll

Aim: This study aimed to determine the incidence of the unclassified phase (gray zone) in chronic hepatitis B patients and its significant in the clinical practice. Patients and methods: The study was conducted retrospectively on 109 patients' who have HBsAg positive for more than 6 months. The data recorded include; HbeAg and anti-HBe Ab, ultrasound of the abdomen, HBV DNA load and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), accordingly; we classify the patients to known clinical phases. Patients who were unfit one of these phases
