Objective: Detection the presumptive prevalence of silent celiac disease in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus with determination of which gender more likely to be affected.
Methods: One hundred twenty asymptomatic patients [75 male , 45 female] with type 1 diabetes mellitus with mean age ± SD of 11.25 ± 2.85 year where included in the study . All subjects were serologically screened for the presence of anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies (anti-tTG antibodies) by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) & total IgA was also measured for all using radial immunodiffusion plate . Anti-tissue transglutaminase IgG was selectively done for patients who were expressing negative anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA with low total IgA levels & results were compared to that obtained from healthy 60 persons with mean age ± SD for them was 15.25 ± 3.85 year . Al - Kindy Col Med J 2012 ; Vol .8 No. (2) p: 132
Results : Fourteen out of one hundred twenty (11.66 % ) diabetic patients had expressed positivity to anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA compared to 1/60 ( 1.66 %) of non diabetic patients who had expressed such positivity , P value equals to 0.0221 & it is considered to be statistically significant. Three out of one hundred twenty (2.5 % ) diabetic patients had expressed total IgA deficiency whereas all of non diabetic patients were expressing total IgA within the normal range , P value equals to 0.55 & it is considered to be not statistically significant. All of three diabetic patients with total IgA deficiency were not showing positivity to anti-tissue transglutaminase IgG . Six mals & Eight female of those with type 1 diabetes mellitus had expressed positivity to anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA , P value equals to 0.1426 & it is considered to be not statistically significant .
Conclusion : There is an increased prevalence of IgA antitissue transglutaminase antibodies ( 11.66 % ) in children & adolescent with type 1 diabetes mellitus in comparison with control group.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most frequent endocrinal disease commonly associated with thyroid disorders .The study is conducted at the Specialized Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes in Baghdad ,during December 2014 up to October 2015.This study was done to investigate the prevalence of anti- thyroid peroxidase (Anti-TPO) antibody in patients suffered from type 2 diabetes with thyroid disorders .The study groups included a total number of 80 subjects consisting of 60 type 2 diabetic patients divided into 20 hyperthyroidism subjects (group 1) ,20 hypothyroidism subjects (group 2), 20 euthyroidism subjects (group 3) and 20 healthy controls (group 4) . The fasting blood samples were analyzed for (T3,T4,TSH) by using Vitek Immuno d

Background: Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)minor subsets (elastase , lysozyme , cathepsin G , lactoferrin & BPI )are detected among systemic lupus erythromatus patients causing vasculitis. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is the prototypic immune complex disease, characterized by excessive autoantibody production, immune complex formation and immunologically mediated tissue injury.
Methods& Patients: A cross-sectional study was conducted on two main groups ,74 patients with SLE and 30 apperantly healthy control volunteers referred to immunology department in teaching laboratories \ medical city during period of (1st of march – 31st of May) 2011. Antinuclear antibody (ANA) ,Cathepsin&n
this study deals with effect of diabetes and hypertension on quality of life
Diabetes is a disease caused by high sugar levels. Currently, diabetes is one of the most common diseases in the number of people with diabetes worldwide. The increase in diabetes is caused by the delay in establishing the diagnosis of the disease. Therefore, an initial action is needed as a solution that requires the most appropriate and accurate data mining to manage diabetes mellitus. The algorithms used are artificial neural network algorithms, namely Restricted Boltzmann Machine and Backpropagation. This research aims to compare the two algorithms to find which algorithm can produce high accuracy, and determine which algorithm is more accurate in detecting diabetes mellitus. Several stages were involved in this research, including d
