Background: Many structural or functional abnormalities can impair the production of thyroid hormones and cause hypothyroidism.Objectives: to identify the main etiological causes of hypothyroidism among patients visiting Specialized Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology.Methods: This study was conducted in the Specialized Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology on 217 patients with proved hypothyroidism, from 2006 to 2008. Every patient was tested with thyroid function tests, Ultrasound examination, thyroid autoantibodies, fine needle aspiration, radiology of skull, isotopes scan, also checking adrenal and gonadal function. Results: Out of these 217 patients 120 patients have thyroiditis 33 patients had been undergone thyroidectomy. 39 patients had received radioactive iodine, 19 patients had congenital causes. One patient had Pituitary cause, 5 patients had graves diseases.Conclusions: It was found that the common causes of hypothyroidism are either chronic autoimmune thyroiditis or destructive treatment for thyrotoxicosis. The results of this study suggest an increase in autoimmune thyroid disease similar to the rising prevalence of type1 DM possibly indicating a rising incidence of autoimmunity in young people
The aim of present study was to develop gel formulation of microsponges of poorly soluble drug meloxicam (MLX) in order to enhance the release and dissolution of MLX which is the limitation for preparation in topical forms. Also skin delivery is an alternative administration for MLX that can minimize gastrointestinal (GI) side effects and improve patient compliance. Etodolac is choice of drug for pain and inflammation but has major side effects of gastric ulcers that are due to free carboxylic group. Etodolac belongs to the chemical class of non-selective COX-inhibitor but preferentially COX-2 inhibitor. Here the ester linked mutual prodrugs of etodolac with phytophenols like vanillin, carvacrol, umbelliferone, guaiacol, sesamol and syringaldehyde were synthesized. All the prodrugs were characterized by IR-spectroscopy, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and mass spectrometry. This paper investigates the performance evaluation of two state feedback controllers, Pole Placement (PP) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR). The two controllers are designed for a Mass-Spring-Damper (MSD) system found in numerous applications to stabilize the MSD system performance and minimize the position tracking error of the system output. The state space model of the MSD system is first developed. Polyvinal alcohol was Cynoethylated , complex compound with Iodin in presence of Cu++ ions were preparated and their ultra violet (U.V) and infra red( IR) spectra were investigated. The prepared derivative and complexes were evaluated as antibacterial and antifungal agents following the standard dilution method. MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration) for each polymer using ten types of gram + ve and gram _ ve bacteria were determinated in addition to three types of fungi.
