Background: In the past, an association between Tuberculosis (TB) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) was widely accepted, today the potential public health and clinical importance of this relationship seems to be largely ignored. The national clinical and policy guidance in the UK on the central of TB, for example, does not consider the relationship with DM.Objectives: To determine the risk of association between diabetes mellitus and pulmonary TB.Methods: A retrospective study conducted in Ibn Zuhr hospital for chest diseases from Jan 2008 – sep 2010 , included in the study 402 patients with TB divided into diabetic & non diabetic, 96 (23.8%) were diabetic while other 306 were TB not diabetic.Results: Risk of TB among DM patients were clear through its percentage (23.8), female patients increased in compares with non DM, also their age become older with mean change from 36.7 to 46.3 years in diabetic.Conclusions: DM is a big problem worldwide and efforts to diagnose, detect, and treat DM may have a beneficial impact on TB control.
In this paper, mixed spinel Co0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4 ferrite was synthesized by microwave-assisted combustion method. Photocatalytic activity of the as-synthesized sample was investigated against methylene blue dye at room temperature at different exposure times (60-360 min.) under visible light. Phase impurity and surface morphology which are investigated with XRD analysis and field emission- scanning electron microscopy, indicate that a cubic spinel unit cell structure with a crystilite size and lattice constant are 22.5048nm and 8.37Å, respectively. The research involved a rapid, automated and highly accurate developed CFIA/MZ technique for estimation of phenylephrine hydrochloride (PHE) in pure, dosage forms and biological sample. This method is based on oxidative coupling reaction of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) with PHE in existence of sodium periodate as oxidizing agent in alkaline medium to form a red colored product at ʎmax )520 nm (. A flow rate of 4.3 mL.min-1 using distilled water as a carrier, the method of FIA proved to be as a sensitive and economic analytical tool for estimation of PHE.
Within the concentration range of 5-300 μg.mL-1, a calibration curve was rectilinear, where the detection limit was 3.252 μg.mL
