Bacterial Profile and Antimicrobial Susceptibility in Neonatal sepses, Al -Alwyia Pediatric Teaching Hospital in Baghdad
...Show More Authors

Background: Neonatal septicemia is a major health problem in developing countries furthermore data on bacteriological profile in early onst sepses (EOS) and late neonatal sepsis (LOS) are lacking in context of  continuous change in bacteriological profile and increasing resistant strains. Objectives: The study done to determine the pattern of organisms implicated in neonatal septicemia in a neonatal care unit and to measure the degree of bacterial resistance to some antibiotics.

Type of the study : cross –sectional study.

Methods: Confirmed cases of neonatal septicemia admitted at Al-Alwyia pediatric teaching hospital for the period from January 2011- January 2012 were included which constitute 107 case. Blood samples were obtained, incubated and Subculture was done on blood agar and MacConkey Agar routinely after 48 hours and 7 days and in between if visible turbidity appeared. Bacterial isolates and antibiotic sensitivity   were identified by standard conventional methods.

Results EOS constituted  29.9%(32 case) of  confirmed neonatal sepsis , while LOS constituted 70.1% (75case) .Eescehrichia coli (E. coli) constitutes 37% of EOS followed by Klebsella pneumonia and Staphylocoocus species (which constitute 12.5% for each of them ) were the most common microorganisms, while for LOS: E.coli constituted 38.7 % of LOS followed by Staphylocoocus species 17.3% and Klebsella pneumonia 10.7%. Gram negative (G negative) bacteria predominated over gram positive (G positive) bacteria in both EOS (81.2%) and LOS (74.7%) .  Staphylocoocus species predominates G positive   sepsis in both EOS and LOS. Group B streptococci are not identified in the study sample. Microorganisms tested shows highly resistant to amoxicillin or ampicillin and to gentamycin. For amoxicillin or ampicillin higher resistant (100%) were encourted with pseudomonas, proteus and Enterobacter. For cefotaxime high rate of resistance encountered with klebsella (71.4%) compared to 40% resistant in pseudomonas. Amikacin also shows varied degree of resistant for E. coli(22% ) and klebsella (41%) , pseudomonas(10%)  ,and  Enterobacter (16.7%) .for Staphylococcus aureus, proteus and citrobacter no resistance was encountered to amikacin and the  sensitivity was 100% in tested isolates .

Conclusions:   G negative bacteria is more common in EOS and LOS with predominant of E. coli in two categories .Resistant strains to commonly used antibiotics is a common finding.  Guidelines in treatment of neonatal sepsis should be frequently reviewed taking in consideration antimicrobial resistance .  Due to magnitude of problem, preventive measures for EOS and LOS should be considered.

EFFECT OF CHANGE IN THE COEFFICIENT OF PERMEABILITY ON CONSOLIDATION CHARACTERISTICS OF CLAYS
...Show More Authors

The settlement rate and pore water pressure dissipation rate are mainly controlled by the permeability of soil. Both laboratory and field tests show that the permeability is varied during the loading and consolidation process. It is known that consolidation process is accompanied by decrease in void ratio which leads to decrease in the coefficient of permeability. The importance of the decrease of the coefficient of permeability on the time rate of settlement and pore water pressure needs to be investigated.
This paper takes into account the change in coefficient of permeability during consolidation and studies its effect on consolidation characteristics of a clay layer. The finite element method is used in the analysis and the packag

Rentierism effect on the democratic choice of the state In Iraq after 2003

The linguistic meaning of the verse in the Arabic dictionaries applies very much to the reality of rent and its effect. This is true of economic growth as a continuous increase in real per capita income in addition to the same thing. Therefore, development does not necessarily achieve a comprehensive and structural increase of the various economic sectors. As the rent came in the sense of a terrible land open Maim any fertilized. And the camel is a ma'aya and a ra'i: that is, it goes in the pasture and returns itself. This is similar to the extraction of oil after it is ready for investment and earn its revenue as soon as it exists or is extracted by external parties. If the rent is first linked to agriculture, especially the fertile lan

ANTAGONISTIC SUCCESSION OF TRICHODERMA AGAINST RHIZOCTONIAL DAMPING- OFF ON TOMATO IN COMPOSTED MEDIA
...Show More Authors

The results revealed that the incidence of Rhizoctonial damping-off of tomato was 65% and 67% in both rotations. Substrates of pine leaf litter and mushcom 2 suppressed infection reaching 59 and 60%. Mushcom1 restricted disease occurrence to 53%. In contrast, formulated Th + B. subtillus revealed a noticeable disease reduction reaching 33.16%, due to nutrients incited from mushroom thallus. The highest occurrence of damping-off (92 and 94 %) was found in control (sandy loam soil) during rotations. However, partial suppressive of Trichoderma spp. against R. solani was detected in different substrates. Mortality was 90% in control (non-amended soil). Finally, a comparable reduction of

The organizational structure of relations between states is among the main features that distinguished the twentieth century as the era of international organization, especially after the increase in the number of political units after World War II in which regionalism was crystallized as a phenomenon. It is not modern, as there are many blocs such as the European Union that have developed in it, the idea of regional bloc is prominent, especially in Europe, as it emerged after a controversy revolved around what was called globalism in the face of Globalism vs. Regionalism. Regional, as the proponents of the global orientation saw the establishment of a global organization that includes all countries, as the best way to achieve inte

Anomaly detection in text data that represented as a graph using dbscan algorithm
...Show More Authors

Anomaly detection is still a difficult task. To address this problem, we propose to strengthen DBSCAN algorithm for the data by converting all data to the graph concept frame (CFG). As is well known that the work DBSCAN method used to compile the data set belong to the same species in a while it will be considered in the external behavior of the cluster as a noise or anomalies. It can detect anomalies by DBSCAN algorithm can detect abnormal points that are far from certain set threshold (extremism). However, the abnormalities are not those cases, abnormal and unusual or far from a specific group, There is a type of data that is do not happen repeatedly, but are considered abnormal for the group of known. The analysis showed DBSCAN using the

SEASONAL CHANGES OF THE TESTES IN THE MARSH FROGE RANA RIDIBUNDA PALLAS, 1771
...Show More Authors

Samples of marsh frog included 148 sexually mature males were collected in Baghdad
from December 1992 to December 1993 to December 1993. The testis weight was expressed
as percentage of the body weight. The percent mean weights of testis were at their minimal
weight (0.255%) during April (spawning period).
Testis weight has increased until reached its greatest average weight in August (0.785%).
During the winter there is a slight decrease in weight with a more obvious fall at the spawning
months. From the results obtained from the present work on Rana ridibunda and from the
observations on annual cycle in testis weight of some temperate zone anurans we notice that
testes tend to be lowest after spawning and the te
