A Brief view on the pediatric COVID- 19 pandemic
...Show More Authors

The world is currently challenging the serious effects of the pandemic of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Data on pediatric COVID are rare and scattered in the literature. In this article, we presented the updated knowledge on the pediatric COVID-19 from different aspects. We hope it will increase the awareness of the pediatricians and health care professionals on this pandemic.

The assessment of pathological changes in cerebral blood flow in hypertensive rats with stress-induced intracranial hemorrhage using Doppler OCT: Particularities of arterial and venous alterations/Die Beurteilung von pathologischen Veränderungen der Hirndurchblutung bei hypertensiven Ratten mit Stress-induzierten intrakraniellen Blutungen mittels Doppler-OCT: Besonderheiten von arteriellen und venösen Veränderungen

Abstract
Hemorrhagic insult is a major source of morbidity and mortality in both adults and newborn babies in the developed countries. The mechanisms underlying the non-traumatic rupture of cerebral vessels are not fully clear, but there is strong evidence that stress, which is associated with an increase in arterial blood pressure, plays a crucial role in the development of acute intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), and alterations in cerebral blood flow (CBF) may contribute to the pathogenesis of ICH. The problem is that there are no effective diagnostic methods that allow for a prognosis of risk to be made for the development of ICH. Therefore, quantitative assessment of CBF may significantly advance the underst
... Show More

Comparative study of CA19-9 levels as tumor marker in sera and tissues of patients with stomach, colon and rectum cancers
...Show More Authors

Background: CA19-9 is among a group of mucin glycoprotein sialosyl lewis antigen (SLA) having come to be recognized as a circulating cancer associated antigen for gastrointestinal cancer. Basic research into cancer causation will be a powerful determinant of intervention in the transformation process reinforcing the need for developing effective molecular tumor biomarkers for early detection of malignant evolution in tissues of organs i.e. stomach, colon and rectum. In this study, we make a comparsion between the levels of CA19-9 in sera and tissues of patients with these diseases to see if their levels are proportional and if it is a tumor marker that affect with malignant cells in tissues of these org

Parental Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice toward their Epileptic Children, Baghdad, Iraq 2022
...Show More Authors

Background: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders. People who know less about epilepsy tend to have negative ideas about the disease. KAP of parents on epilepsy is crucial, especially to children below 13, as the child in this stage mostly depends on parents to get the answers to their concerns. Still, the over-protection from their families will create insecurity and reduce their self-esteem when they grow older.

Objectives: To assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) and measure their association with sociodemographic characteristics.

Methods: A cross-sectional study involved 107 parents with children who were diagnosed and received treatm

Back ground: Celiac disease (CD) is an immune–mediated enteropathy induced by gluten with broad spectrum of presentation, many patients with atypical symptoms or clinically silent remain undiagnosed, and are at risk of long-term complications.
Objective: The aim of the present study is to determine the of prevalence celiac disease in children with short stature.
Patient and Methods: In this prospective study, 307 children 181(58.9%)males and 126(41.1%) females ,with ages ranging from 3 to 17.5years ( mean 12.2 ±3.4) with short statures (height below 3rd percentile adjusted for age and sex) attending the consultation room of endocrinology/ Welfare Teaching Hospital/medical city- Baghdad , were enrolled in this study from the firs

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia: hospital based study
...Show More Authors

Background: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a family of autosomal recessive disorders of cortisol biosynthesis. Depending on the enzymatic step that is deficient, there may be signs, symptoms, and laboratory findings of mineralocorticoid deficiency or excess; incomplete virilization or premature puberty in affected males; and virilization or sexual infantilism in affected females. The most frequent is 21-hydroxylase enzyme deficiency, accounting for more than 90% of cases.
Objectives: to review cases of congenital adrenal hyperplasia registered in children welfare teaching hospital- medical city- Baghdad.
Patients and method: This study included all patients who were presented and registered in the e

Hematological Study of Infants Amoebiasis in Duhok City
...Show More Authors

Out of 180 children, 60 (33.3%) have Amoebiasis infection as diagnosed by direct wet smear and Saturated Salt Solution (SSS). SSS method is more significant (P=0.001) in diagnosis of the disease. Number of children infected with Amoebiasis infection is higher in infants aged 1-6 months, but without any significant difference to ages 6-12 or 12-18 months. In contrast, infants aged 18-24 months are significantly differant (P=0.01) as the infection rate is 16.6%. Gender also is seen to be reduced in significance (P= 0.001) for females aged 18-24 months. Blood profile of the involved infants has shown a significant variation (P=0. 01) for all blood profile parameters (RBC (P=0.05), WBC (P=0.001), Lymphocytes (P=0.05), Granulated WBC (P=0.05),

Using VGG Models with Intermediate Layer Feature Maps for Static Hand Gesture Recognition
...Show More Authors

A hand gesture recognition system provides a robust and innovative solution to nonverbal communication through human–computer interaction. Deep learning models have excellent potential for usage in recognition applications. To overcome related issues, most previous studies have proposed new model architectures or have fine-tuned pre-trained models. Furthermore, these studies relied on one standard dataset for both training and testing. Thus, the accuracy of these studies is reasonable. Unlike these works, the current study investigates two deep learning models with intermediate layers to recognize static hand gesture images. Both models were tested on different datasets, adjusted to suit the dataset, and then trained under different m
