Association Between Different Risk Factors And Stroke At Emergency Department In Neuro Science Hospital
...Show More Authors

Background: Stroke is an acute neurologic injury and represents the 2nd leading cause of mortality worldwide, and also the most leading cause of acquired disability and morbidity in adults.

Objective: Effect and association between stroke and risk factors.

Type of the study: A retrospective study.

Methods: The study conducted on 312 patients in 2016, all data were collected from patients’ files from the emergency unit, which included basic demographic and disease characteristic, co morbid diseases, risk factors, final diagnosis.

Results: both previous stroke, ischemic heart disease was strong predictor of new stroke ,and hypertension was major risk factor that associated with new stroke (odd ratio= 13.034, 2.659and 5.684respectively), no significant correlation between sex and stroke in the collected sample despite that female had slightly higher rate of stroke than male, patients with age above 70 years carry the highest risk to present with stroke.

Conclusion: The rate of stroke in Iraqi patients still significantly associated with advance age, two major predictor of stroke are associated with stroke previous stroke and ischemic heart disease and hypertension was the major risk factor correlated with new onset stroke, and prevention programs must be implemented on them especially hypertension since it is modifiable risk factor

This work deals with the description of histopathological effects of the nematode Hartertia
gallinarurn Theiler. 1919 on the digestive system of the seesee partridge collected from Qa’ra
area in the western desert district of Iraq. along with some notes on intensity fluctuation of the
parasite according to the seasons. It is found that the major effects of the nematode are
necrosis and fibrosis of gizzard: granulomatous reaction. necrosis and mononuclear
infiltration of proventriculus: damage of mucosal lining of intestine and lymphocytic
infiltration of liver.

Background: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system of unknown etiology. Different techniques and magnetic resonance image sequences are widely used and compared to each other to improve the detection of multiple sclerosis lesions in the spinal cord. Objective: To evaluate the ability of MRI short tau inversion recovery sequences in improvementof multiple sclerosis spinal cord lesion detection when compared to T2 weighted image sequences. Type of the study: A retrospective study. Methods: this study conducted from 15thAugust 2013 to 30thJune 2014 at Baghdad teaching hospital. 22 clinically definite MS patients with clinical features suggestive of spinal cord involvement,

Two local fish Himri Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843)  and Hishni Liza abu (Heckel, 1843) were stained with Alizarin Red and featured some anatomical qualities which cleared the difference of the muscular and skeletal fabric for each fish. Since clear Histologic differences appeared in these two species, it was intended from this study the possibility of adopting a diagnosis between local fish species by staining bones and tissues.

Evaluation of olive oil as a separating medium and its effect on some physical properties of processed acrylic resin denture base (A comparative study). Part one
...Show More Authors

Back ground: During acrylic resin processing, the mold must be separated from the surface of the gypsum to prevent liquid resin from penetrating into the gypsum, and water from the gypsum seeping into the acrylic resin. For many years, tin foil was the most acceptable separating medium, and because it's difficult to apply, a tin-foil substitute is used. In this study, olive oil is used as an alternative to tin foil separating medium for first time, so the aim of the study was to evaluate its effect as a separating medium on some physical properties such as (surface roughness, water sorption and solubility) of acrylic resins denture base comparing it with those processed using tin-foil and tin foil substitute such as (cold mold seal) separat

Synthesis and Antioxidant Ability of Some New 6-amino-7H- [1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl) Derivatives Bearing 2,6-Dimethoxy-4-(methoxymethyl)Phenol Moiety

Compound 4-(((6-amino-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)- 2,6-dimethoxyphenol (6) was synthesized by multi steps. The corresponding acetonitrile thioalkyl (7) was cyclized by refluxing with acetic acid to afford 4-(((6-amino-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4- b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (8). Two new series of 4-(((6-(3- (4-aryl)thioureido)-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4] thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6- dimethoxyphenol (9a-c) and of 4-(((6-(substitutedbenzamido)7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4- b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (10a-c) were synthesized as new derivatives for fused 1,2,4-trizaole-thiadiazine(8). The antioxidants of newly compounds were evaluated by DPPH
