A total of 352 freshwater fishes, belonging to three species of the family Cyprinidae were collected from the Greater Zab river in north of Iraq during the period from November 2000 to the end of November 2001. The inspection of their gills revealed the infection of these fishes with three species of monogenetic trematodes belonging to the genus Dogielius. These species included D. mokhayeri from Aspius vorax with a percentage incidence of 37.5%; D. molnari from Cyprinion macrostomum (33.3%) and D. persicus from Barbus luteus (41.2%). The record of this genus and its three above-named species of the present study are considered as the first record on fishes of Iraq.

Isovaleryl CoA dehydrogenase (IVDH) is a flavoprotein that introduce a trans-double bond between C2 and C3 of the isovaleryl CoA substrate, an intermediate in leucine catabolism pathway. Interrogation of the Paracoccus denitrificans Pd1222 genome has identified Pden_3633 gene as a candidate to encode for IVDH. We have carried out multi color CCD surface photometry on the spiral galaxies NGC 4800 and NGC 2715 using 1.88 m optical telescope of Kottamia Astronomical Observatory. From these observations, the surface brightness, Ellipticity, position angle and color indices profiles are studied. Stellar populations in different regions of the galaxies are analyzed using color indices diagrams. We found that the galaxy NGC 4800 has a diffuse bright nuclear region and the asymmetry of the bar is due to the nonuniform distribution of dust in the galaxy.
