In order to investigate the levels of reduced glutathione GSH and α1-antitrypsine in the sera of 20 type 2 diabetic patients and 10 healthy subjects, were enrolled in this study. A significant reduction in GSH level was found in the patient group compared with control. On the other hand a significant elevation in α1-antitrypsine in patient compared with control was observed. Correlation between α1-antitrypsine and reduced glutathion was found to be positive (+Ve) for diabetes mellitus type2 patients and negative (-Ve) for healthy control with r values 0.257 and – 0.339 respectively. In conclusion the depletion of GSH as antioxidant defense insured higher free radical generation in diabetic patients which is conformed by the high α1-antitrypsine level in the sera.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disorder disease. The inflammatory markers act as a new risk factor for development of type 2 diabetes with a possible association with ABO/Rh blood groups. Human ABO genes are located on chromosome 9q34.1-q34.2. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association between inflammatory markers, interleukin (IL) -18 and IL-33 in type 2DM and ABO blood groups. Sixty four patients with newly diagnosed type2 DM and control group consist of twenty healthy Iraqi individual. Laboratory test were include ABO blood groups using standard serological procedures and detection IL-18 and IL-33 in serum by ELISA kits. The Present data showed a significant increase i

Diabetic nephropathy occurs as a result of an interaction between hemodynamic and metabolic factors, however recent evidence shows an increase growing support for the notion that inflammation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy.
Objectives: To speculate the role of IL-18 and TNF-α proinflammatory cytokines in the initiation and development of diabetic nephropathy in T1DM and T2DM.
Materials and methods: Eighty seven T1DM and T2DM patients with or without DN were enrolled. IL-18 and TNF-α cytokines were measured by solid phase immunosorbent assays.

Objective: The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the effectiveness of the instructional intervention
about medical and health knowledge of patients with diabetes mellitus type II.
Methodology: A Quasi- experimental study was carried out in National Center for Diabetes Mellitus/ Almustansria
University, started from 4th January 2012, to 1st April 2012. Non-probability (purposive sample) of (50) diabetes

Background; Hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP) are divided in primary and secondary subtypes. Primary HLP is usually due to genetic causes. Secondary HLP is resulting from another underlying disorder such as diabetes mellitus that leads to alterations in plasma lipid and lipoprotein metabolism, HLP may be idiopathic .
Patients and Methods; Ninety male individuals (age 30-45)years were enrolled in this study which were divided into three groups as follows:- (G1) consist of 30 healthy male individuals as a control group, (G2) consist of 30 male patients with (HLP) without any other disease (15 of them were HLP1,the other were HLP11), (G3) consist of 30 male patients with DM2 without any o

They have been classified into two groups as the following: 1) Patients of type II DM group includes (20) individuals from both sexes with age range (35–65) years. 2) Control group: includes (20) healthy individuals from both sexes, with age range (30 – 45) years and no previous disease which may interfere with the parameters analyzed in this research. All the blood samples were analyzed for vitamin D3, albumin, C- reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA), α1- antitrypsin and to

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is entirely associated with insulin resistance. This study aimed to demonstrate the association of UII with insulin resistance in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects. A total of 73 male and female subjects aged 40-60 years were recruited in this case-control study. They included 35 non- diabetic subjects with a body mass index of (BMI) ≤ 25 and 38 patients with Diabetes Mellitus and BMI ≥ 25. UII levels were assessed beside other vasoactive and clinical parameters. The results re

The aim of this study was to find optimum conditions were determined such as (pH, Substrate Concentration, Temperature, Incubation time, Enzyme concentration, and effect of(0.15M)(0.25M) of mono divalent compounds). Show MoreBoth type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes have a genetic component, with over 60 chromosomal regions related to type 1 diabetes and over 200 connected with type 2 diabetes at significant genome-wide levels. Numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms in the RETN gene and genetic variables can account for up to 70% of the variations in circulating resistin levels. The RETN polymorphism has been linked in numerous studies to obesity, insulin sensitivity, type 2 diabetes, and cerebrovascular illness. Our objective is to compare this RETN gene 3ʹ-untranslated region polymorphism in type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes Iraqi patients. We choose 51 type 1 diabetes and 52 type 2 diabetes patients against 50 healthy subjects (control group) to investig
... Show More The main objective of this study would be that if serum lipocalin-2 and Vaspin levels may be utilized as indicators for chronic in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. T2DM treatment is to maintain a healthy glycemic level. If this goal is not met, diabetes consequences, both acute and chronic, may emerge, one of which is obesity. As a result, researchers have investigated the levels of Lipocalin-2 and Vaspin, as well as their connection to obesity and insulin resistance. In this study, we included 60 T2DM (ages 35 to 65 years) and 30 healthy controls. After an overnight fast, blood serum samples were collected, and routine biochemical parameters such as lipocalin-2, Vaspin, and glucose were measured in all samples. At a
