Because of Citrobacter freundii medical and economical importance and that there are only little local studies about it, this study aimed to isolate and identify this important bacterial species from others that have a similar biochemical and morphological characteristics. Twenty five chicken meat samples were collected randomly from local markets in Baghdad city during 2017; Citrobacter was isolated from the collected samples using selective and differential media and identified using biochemical tests, the identification was confirmed using Vitek 2 compact and polymerase chain reaction for 16S rRNA and the isolated bacteria identified as C. freundii.

Eighty one bacterial isolates were obtained from 53 soil samples of different plants rhizosphere. All the isolated bacterial were screened for antifungal effect against Fusarium oxysporum . Three isolates gave antifungal activity with inhibition zone ranged between (0.5-2.5 cm). Two isolates (Bd1 and Bd2) were Brevundimonas diminuta, while the third (Pf1) was Pseudomonas fluorescence . B. diminuta (Bd1) which used in this study isolated from Raphanus sativus gave the highest inhibition zone against F. oxysporum. Cell free supernatant of B.diminuta(Bd1) was better in antifungal activity than bacterial cells against F. oxysporum. Excessive intake of fluoride, mainly through drinking water is a serious health hazard affecting humans worldwide. In this study, the defluoridation capacities of locally available raw waste beef bones have been estimated. Several experimental parameters including contact time, pH, bone dose, fluoride initial concentration, bone grains size, agitation rate, and the effect of co-existence of anions in actual samples of wastewater were studied for fluoride removal from aqueous solutions.
