Effect of Rhizopus Stolonifer Metabolic Products on Serum Vitamin C , some elements and catalase in albino male rats
...Show More Authors

The present study was designed to investigate the effect of R. stolonifer metabolic products on some antioxidant defenses and some elements (Cu, Fe, Ca) . The experiment was performed using 25 mature male rats, their age average was about (3-3.5) months and their weight average was about (200-225) gm. The animals were randomly divided into 5 equal groups (five animals for each): control (treated orally with normal saline) and four treatment groups were drenched orally with four concentrations of R. stolonifer metabolic products (15, 30, 60,120) μl/kg body weight. The animals were treated with one single dose of the previously described concentrations then left for 15 days. Animals of different groups were sacrificed under light ether anesthesia one day after the end of treatments and blood samples were taken to determine some physiological, biochemical parameters.       The results revealed that the treated groups showed significant decreases (P< 0.05) in serum vitamin C and Fe, Cu concentrations. The decrease was proportional with the increase the concentrations of the metabolic products of R. stolonifer. On the contrary Catalase activity increased significantly (P< 0.05), while  Ca concentration didn’t differ significantly (P< 0.05)        The findings of this study may encourage other researcher for further study especially that we find in our local market that there are many rotted vegetable and fruits which may cause serious problems if consumed for certain period.

The Effect of Pores in Dual Nano Hydroxyapatite Coating on Thermally Oxidized Commercial Pure Titanium: Mechanical and Histological Evaluation
...Show More Authors

Background:In this study,TiO2 layer was thermally grown as a diffusion barrier on CP Ti substrate prior to electrophoretic deposition of HA coatings, to improve the coating’s compatibility also macro and micro pores in nano Hydroxyapatite dual coatings were created and their effect on the bond strength between the bone and implant was evaluated. Materials and methods: Electrophoretic Deposition technique (EPD) was used to obtain coatings for each one of four types of Hydroxyapatite(HA)on CP Ti screws (micro HA, nano HA, dual nano HA with micro pores, dual nano HA with macro pores) where carbon particles used as fugitive material to be removed by thermal treatment to create porosity. For examination of the changes occurred on the subs

Effect of Natural Phytase, Fermentation, and Baking Processes on Phytate Degradation in Wheat Bread Manufactured from Local Mills Flour
...Show More Authors

The present study aims to investigate the effect of wheat natural phytase, fermentation and baking processes in the destruction of phytic acid during the process of making wheat bread for some Iraqi mills. The concentration of phytic acid was (850.32, 802.14, 531.84 mg / 100g) for the flour of AL-Brairie, AL-Nesr and AL-Al-Doura mills respectively. At the end of the fermentation processes, the decrease in the concentration of phytic acid in the samples produced from the flour obtained from the three mills was (47.06, 26.98, 40.00%) respectively, while inorganic phosphorus concentration in all treatments increased by 32.4, 42.37 and 36.21 %, respectively. It was found that the activity of wheat natural phytase enz

Challenges Faced by Families of Children with Intellectual Disabilities and Its Effect on the Psychological Health in the Asir
...Show More Authors

Abstract

This research aims to identify the challenges faced by families of children with intellectual disabilities and to identify the impact of the challenges facing them on the mental health of their children with intellectual disabilities. Based on the following questions: What is the nature of the challenges faced by families of children with disabilities and how do these challenges affect the mental health of their children with intellectual disabilities? The study was conducted on a sample of four families of six children with intellectual disabilities, depending on the degree and type of disability. To achieve the study's objectives, the qualitative approach was used, Because of the importance of accessin

Lead acetate deteriorates the improvement effect of L-arginine and tetrahydrobiopterin on endothelin-1 receptors activity in rat aorta
...Show More Authors

Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a potent vasoconstrictor hormone that has been identified as an important factor
responsible for the development of cardiovascular dysfunctions. ET-1 exerts its vasoconstrictor activity
through two pharmacologically distinct receptors, ETA and ETB that are found in vascular smooth muscle
cells (VSMCs) and the vasodilator activity through an ETB receptor located on endothelial cells. This study
aimed to show the impact of 1µM L-arginine (LA), 100µM tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), and their combined
effect on ET-1 activity in both lead-treated and lead-untreated rat aortic rings. This means, investigating how
endothelial dysfunction reverses the role of nitric oxide precursor and cofa

The Effect of Expected Water Shortage on Net Primary Productivity and Rain Use Efficiency in the Tigris-Euphrates Basin
...Show More Authors

Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, originating in Turkey and cutting through both Syria and Iraq, have experienced drastic reductions in water flows in recent years due to increasing water demand, hydro-engineering projects, and climate change. The decline in water flows has led to decreased agricultural yields. Iraq reported its worst cereal harvest in a decade in 2009, indicating that with a decline in water supplies, a potential food security problem emerges. This study, therefore, addressed the effect of water availability on (1) Net Primary Productivity (NPP) and (2) Rain Use Efficiency (RUE) in the Tigris-Euphrates (T-E) basin. Results displayed that NPP increases significantly from the arid and semi-arid sites in the south to the wetter

Effect of diabetes mellitus on periodontal health status, salivary flow rate and salivary pH in patients with chronic periodontitis
...Show More Authors

Background: Diabetes and periodontitis are considered as chronic diseases with a bidirectional relationship between them. This study aimed to determine and compare the severity of periodontal health status and salivary parameters in diabetic and non-diabetic patients with chronic periodontitis. Materials and Methods: Seventy participants were enrolled in this study. The subjects were divided into three groups: Group I: 25 patients had type 2 diabetes mellitus with chronic periodontitis, Group 2: 25 patients had chronic periodontitis and with no history of any systemic diseases, Group 3: 20 subjects had healthy periodontium and were systemically healthy. Unstimulated whole saliva was collected for measurement of salivary flow rate and pH.

The Effect of Soil Content, Drilling Parameters and Drilling Tool Diameter on the Vibration Assessment in the Drilling Rig
...Show More Authors

Abstract

This paper represents a study of the effect of the soil type, the drilling parameters and the drilling tool properties on the dynamic vibrational behavior of the drilling rig and its assessment in the drilling system. So first, an experimental drilling rig was designed and constructed to embrace the numerical work.

The experimental work included implementation of the drill-string in different types of soil with different properties according to the difference in the grains size, at different rotational speeds (RPM), and different weights on bit (WOB) (Thrust force), in a way that allows establishing the charts that correlate the vibration acceleration, the rate of penetration (ROP), and the power

Numerical and Experimental Investigations of the Effect of PVD and Vacuum Pressure on the Degree of Saturation
...Show More Authors

Soft clays are generally characterized by low shear strength, low permeability and high compressibility. An effective method to accelerate consolidation of such soils is to use vertical drains along with vacuum preloading to encourage radial flow of water.  In this research numerical modeling of prefabricated vertical drains with vacuum pressure was done to investigate the effect of using vertical drains together with vacuum pressure on the degree of saturation of fully and saturated-unsaturated soft soils.  Laboratory experiments were conducted by using a specially-designed large consolidometer cell where a central drain was installed and vacuum pressure was applied. All tests were conducted
