The present study was designed to investigate the effect of R. stolonifer metabolic products on some antioxidant defenses and some elements (Cu, Fe, Ca) . The experiment was performed using 25 mature male rats, their age average was about (3-3.5) months and their weight average was about (200-225) gm. The animals were randomly divided into 5 equal groups (five animals for each): control (treated orally with normal saline) and four treatment groups were drenched orally with four concentrations of R. stolonifer metabolic products (15, 30, 60,120) μl/kg body weight. The animals were treated with one single dose of the previously described concentrations then left for 15 days. Animals of different groups were sacrificed under light ether anesthesia one day after the end of treatments and blood samples were taken to determine some physiological, biochemical parameters. The results revealed that the treated groups showed significant decreases (P< 0.05) in serum vitamin C and Fe, Cu concentrations. The decrease was proportional with the increase the concentrations of the metabolic products of R. stolonifer. On the contrary Catalase activity increased significantly (P< 0.05), while Ca concentration didn’t differ significantly (P< 0.05) The findings of this study may encourage other researcher for further study especially that we find in our local market that there are many rotted vegetable and fruits which may cause serious problems if consumed for certain period.

By- products of corn starch industry were used to prepare media for propagation the lactic acid bacteria as a natural auxotroph. The by- products used were the corn steep water (S) and gluten extract (G) after a proper treatment to get them ready for media preparation. The results showed that it was possible to replace the peptone and meat extract by gluten extract in MRS medium. The growth was approximately similar to that obtained in standard MRS media. The simple and available technique of colorimetry and indirect X-ray fluorescence determination of tetracycline hydrochloride (in the form of colored complex with iron(III) ions) and cyanocobalamine (in the form of the colored thiocyanate complex with cobalt(II) ions) is offered. The analytes were separated from the accompanying components by sorption to polyurethane foam based on ethers. The conditions of sorption separation and measurement of analytical signal of these substances are optimized. The obtained results of tetracycline drugs and injection solution B12 vitamin are in satisfactory agreement with data declared by the manufacturer.

... Show MoreThis research was carried out to evaluate the activity of crude juice of Olive on some cytogenetic parameters in mice like chromosomal aberration (CAs) and micronuclei formation(MN). The results showed that there was no significant difference between the crude juice (green and black)in CAs(3.77,4.10)and MN(0.25,0.25) in comparison with negative control (3.39,0.22)respectively. The interaction effect between the crude before and after treatment with mutagen MMC showed that the crude is one of the vital inhibitors of the mutagen by its ability in reducing the percentages of both the CAs and MN in bone marrow cells in mice.
