This experiment was carried out in the field of botanical garden which belongs to Biologi
Department , College of Education (Ibn Al-Haitham), University of Baghdad during the
growing season 2009-2010.The experiment was designed to study the effect 5 concentrations
of Gibberellic acid(GA3)( 25,50,75,100and125mg.L
-1
) and 2 levels of NPK (17:17:17)
fertilizer (200 and 400 Kg.ha
-1
) and their interaction on the rates of absorption and transport
of some macronutrient elements in two varieties of chamomile plant ( Local variety ,
Matricaria chamomilla L. and German variety , Matricaria recutitia L.) . Randomized
Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used with 3 replicates for each treatment .Control plants
were grown in unfertilized soils and not sprayed with gibberellic acid .
Results showed a significant increase in the
absorption and transport rates of N,P,K,Ca and Mg with increased GA3 concentration and
NPK levels in comparision with the control plants The highest rates of absorption and
transport rates were obtained by using GA3 at 75 mg.L
-1
and NPK at 400 Kg.ha
-1
. The local
variety gave highest rates of absorption and transport .This result pointed to the genetic
variations between the two varieties in their response to the studied factores

Investigation of mesomorphic properties of new 1,3,4-thiadiazolines (which are synthesised via many steps in Scheme 1) was carried out in this study. These compounds are designed to have a heterocyclic unit, a carboxylate linkage group and a polar ether chain at the end of the molecule adjacent to the benzene ring, which enhance the dipolar interactions forces (varied from one to eight carbons) to investigate the association properties of their phases. Show MoreThis study aimed to detect the present levels and distribution of air pollutants such as SPM, Pb, Cr, Cd , and Ni , in two urban sites within Al- Rusafa side in Baghdad city (Al-Waziriya as industrial site and Al-Andalus square as commercial site). Measurements were carried out from November 2013 until June 2014. SPM, Pb, Cr, Cd , and Ni were measured using Air intake device(Sniffer) . The average minimum concentrations of SPM, Pb, Cr, Cd , and Ni were 588 μg/m3, 2.8 μg/m3, 15.6 μg/m3, 0.1 μg/m3, and 6.3 μg/m3. Show MoreNew schiff bases series (VIII) a-e and 1,3-thiazolidin-4-one derivatives (IX) a-e containing the 1,2,4-triazole and 1,3,4-thiazazole rings were synthesized and screening their biological activities. These compounds were identified via Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, some via Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and mass spectra. The biological results indicated that all of these compounds did not reveal antibacterial effectiveness against (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella species) (G-). Some of these compounds showed moderate antibacterial activity against (Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis) (G+), and all compounds exhibited moderate activity against Candida albicans.
A thin film of SnSe were deposited by thermal evaporation technique on 400 ±20 nm thick glass substrates of these films were annealed at different temperatures (100,150,200 ⁰C), The effect of annealing on the characteristics of the nano crystalline SnSe thin films was investigated using XRD, UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), and Hall effect measurements.
