Smoking-related diseases can be attributed to the inhalation of many different toxins, including heavy metals, which have a host of harmful health effects. The primary objective of this study was to determine whether local and imported cigarette brands used in Iraq , have they elevated levels of metals or not .Three metals Lead (Pb) , Cadmium (Cd) and Chromium(Cr) were determined in tobacco of seventeen brands of imported cigarettes commonly available in Iraq and three Iraqi domestic cigarettes , which were randomly taken from retail market in Baghdad by using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The present study aims to evaluate the immune status of MC patients by measuring the level of immunoglobulins IgG and IgM by using the radial immune diffusion assay (RIA) and the level of interleukin 18 receptor 1 (IL-18R1) by the Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The study is conducted during November 2013 to April, 2014 in outpatient clinic of Baquba Teaching Hospital. Schiff Base And Ligand Metal Complexes of Some Amino Acids and Drug

New 1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-one(3) was synthesized by cyclization of[(4-Methyl phenyl-carbonyl)amino]acetic acid (2). The starting materials were readily obtained by acylation of 2-amino acetic acid (Glycine) with 4-methyl phenyl chloride .Imidazole(4) was synthesized by reaction of compound (3) with hydrazine hydrate (99%). Compound (4) was isolated and characterized by 1HNMR , FTIR , uv-vis spectroscopy and elemental analysis (C.H.N). Compound (4) has been used as a ligand (L) to prepare a number of metal complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) , Cu(II) and Zn(II).

New hydrazide compounds (A2) and (A9) were prepared from their corresponding esters (A1, A8) .These esters were also prepared from their precursors 5-ethoxy carbonyl-(4methoxyphenyl)-6-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-2-thione (A1) via multicomponent reaction type and from hippuric acid respectively. The hydrazide compounds were then allowed to react with some aldehydes forming the corresponding hydrazones (A3-7) and (A1014).
