Anti-tumor Activity of Plantago lanceolata Aqueous Extract In Vitro and Genotoxicity by Micronucleus Assay In Vivo
...Show More Authors

The study is designed to evaluate the effect of the aqueous extract of the P. lanceolata plant, as well as to know the effect of the drug CCl4 on the formation of micronucleus in vivo 48 female albino mice. In the study mice were separated into eight groups treated intraperitoneally for seven day first group Negative control, second positive control( CCl4 0.02%), third group aqueous extract (250 mg/kg), fourth group  aqueous extract (500 mg/kg), fifth group (CCl4 0.02%) plus aqueous extract (250 mg/kg), sixth group (CCl4 0.02%) plus aqueous extract (500 mg/kg), seventh group aqueous extract (250 mg/kg) plus (CCl4 0.02%), and eighth group aqueous extract (500 mg/kg) plus (CCl4 0.02%). The genetic-cellular aspect involved measuring the coefficient of micronucleus formation in bone marrow cells in mice treated with CCl4 and plant aqueous extract. The results showed that the treatment of mice with the drug led to a rise in the coefficient of micronucleus formation compared to the negative control group. In addition, it showed the plant's ability to reduce the drug CCl4 effect in the totals of overlaps between the plant extract and the drug at the concentrations used for the plant 250 and 500 μg/ml and reduce the formation of micronucleus.

The cellular toxicity of the plant’s aqueous extract on the liver cancer cell line was assessed in HepG2 (liver cancer cell line) and the WRL68 (hepatic human cell line) using concentrations (25, 50, 100, 200, and 400 μg /ml) from the plant’s aqueous extract on the HepG2 liver cancer cell line. The results showed a decrease in cell viability depending on aqueous extract concentration. The vitality of cancer cells decreased with the increase in concentration; the viability of the aqueous extract of the plant on cancer cells reached the minimum at concentration 400 μg/ml 45.34±4.44, while it reached the maximum when concentration  25 μg/ml 84.53±2.41.

Evaluation of The Microleakage of Polyacid Modified Composite Compared to Hybrid Composite and Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement in Primary and Permanent Teeth Restoration (An in vitro study)
...Show More Authors

Background: Dental caries is one of the most significant problems in world health care. Restoring carious primary teeth is one of the major treatment goals for Children, and the light activated resin restoration materials like composite, resin-modified glass ionomer and polyacid-modified which was introduced in dentistry in 1970, widely used in clinical dentistry but its application increased dramatically in recent years because of its biocompatibility, color matching, good adhesive properties of its resemblance in physical and mechanical aspects to tooth. The aim of this study: To evaluate the microleakage of Polyacid-Modified Composite resin Compared to Flowable Hybrid Composite and Resin-Modified Glass ionomer cement. Materials and me

In vitro bond strengths post thermal and fatigue load cycling of sapphire brackets bonded with self-etch primer and evaluation of enamel damage
...Show More Authors

Background: This in vitro study compares a self-etch primer (SEP) to an etch-and-rinse (EaR) for bonding sapphire brackets by evaluation of the enamel etch-pattern, shear bond strength, amount of remnant adhesive and enamel surface damage following thermal and fatigue cyclic loading. Material and Methods: Ceramic (sapphire) brackets were bonded to 80 extracted human premolars using two enamel etching protocols: conventional EaR using 37% phosphoric acid (PA) gel (control), and a SEP (Transbond Plus). Each group was subdivided into two subgroups (n=20 teeth) according to the time of bracket debonding: after 24 h water storage or following 5000 thermo-cycles plus 5000 cycles fatigue loading, to determine the shear bond strength (SBS), adhesiv

Review Article: Amygdalin as Anti-Cancer Agent
...Show More Authors

Amygdalin (d-Mandelonitrile 6-O-β-d-glucosido-β-d-glucoside) and its semi synthetic product is Laetrile ( also called vitamin B17): a natural cyanogenic glycoside occurring in the seeds of some edible plants, such as bitter almonds and peaches. Early in the 19th century, Amygdalin was first isolated in 1830 by two French chemists, Robiquet and Boutron-Charlard, as active components in various fruit pits and raw nuts. However, the systematized study of vitamin B17 started when chemist Bohn (1802) discovered that a hydrocyanic acid is released during distillation of the water from bitter almonds. The various pharmacological effects of Laetrile include antiatherogenic, activity in renal fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, immune regulation, ant

The Effect of Zinc oxide Nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) on the Viability of Leishmania tropic In Vitro
...Show More Authors

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) also known under local names like (tropical sore, oriental sore and Baghdad sore) is the most common form of leishmaniasis. It is a public health and a social problem in many developing countries. The Old World disease primarily is caused by Leishmania major in dry desert areas and Leishmania tropica in urban areas. Recently, metal oxide nanoparticales have been versatile platforms for biomedical applications and therapeutic interventions. There is an urgent need to develop new types of antileishmanial agents instead of classical drug (pentostam), especially, when its efficacy showed a decline towards some strains of Leishmania. Therefore, the present work was aimed to evaluating antileishmanial activity of z

Comparison of Shear Bond Strength of Three Different Brackets Bonded on Zirconium Surfaces (In Vitro Study)
...Show More Authors

Background: With the increased in the demands of adult orthodontics, the challenge of direct bonding to non-enamel surface (zirconium) had been increased. The present study was carried out to compare the shear bond strength of three different brackets (stainless steel, sapphire and composite) bonded to zirconium surface and study the mode of bond failure. Materials and methods: The sample was comprised of 30 models (8mm *6mm*1.5mm) of full contour zirconium veneers. They were divided into three groups according to the brackets type; all samples were treated first by sandblast with aluminum oxide particle 50 µm then coated by z-prime plus primer. A central incisor bracket of each group was bonded to the prepared zirconium surface with lig

In this work, combining acyclovir with ciprofloxacin (CCP), a new Schiff base and its metal complexes with iron (III), manganese (II), copper (II), zinc (II), and calcium (II) ions are synthesized and structurally characterized by XRD, SEM, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, and UV-Visible spectral techniques. Furthermore, molecular docking studies were carried out, and the complexes were tested to resolve any potential hang-ups in opposition to the Herpes virus and DFT calculation studies. In addition, the metal complexes and ligand were screened against antibacterial strains of one gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) and three gram-negative bacteria (
