In this work, results of a mathematical analysis of the role of workpiece preheating in laser keyhole welding were presented. This analysis considered the steady-state welding as well as certain range of boundary conditions over which preheating effect would be indicated. This work is an attempt to interpret the role of preheating to increase welding depth and perform keyhole welding with high quality using physical and thermal properties of steel alloys.

Studies were conducted to screen eight sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) genotypes for their allelopathic potential against weeds and wheat crop, which customarily follows sunflower in Iraq. All sunflower genotypes significantly inhibited the total number and biomass of companion weeds and the magnitude of inhibition was genotype dependent. Among the eight genotypes tested, Sin-Altheeb and Coupon were the most weed-suppressing cultivars, and Euroflor and Shumoos were the least. A series of tests were conducted to determine the susceptibility of eggs and neonates of the Rice Weevil Sitophilus oryzae L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), exposed to the insect growth regulator, Pyriproxyfen, on filter paper and on rough rice. In the first test, the hatch rate of eggs exposed on filter paper treated with Pyriproxyfen at the label rate of 0.003 mg [AI] /cm2 when used as a surface treatment in structures was 52.0 ± 7.3% compared to 93.0 ± 3.3% on untreated controls. This research is an attempt to define the concept of journalistic information pollution, and what are the causes and sources of this pollution.
