Total Protein and Total Fucose in Sera of Patients with Thyroid Dysfunction and Control
...Show More Authors

Total protein and total fucose were determined in sera of thyroid

disorder patients.

Sera of (40) diagnosed by consultant hyperthyroidism, and 40 hypothyroidism  were analyzed  for  the above  parameter  for  control, sera of (40) normal individuals were used.

They   were   healthy   with    no  appearing   disorder   results   analysis revealed  no significant  differences  (P<0.05)  in  the (mean  Â±SD)  of total   protein   values  in   sera  of   hyper  and   hypothyroidism   were compared  with  normal  control,  also  no  significant  difference  was found between hyper and hypothyroidism themselves.

Total fucose revealed a significant decrease in the (mean± SD) values in sera of hyper and hypothyroidism compared with normal healthy.

Lipid Profile and Insulin Resistance in Patients with Type-ΙΙ Diabetes Mellitus
...Show More Authors

Objective: To investigate the relation between dyslipidemia and insulin resistance where it is one of the metabolic
disorders in patients with type-ΙΙ diabetes mellitus and compare the results with the control group.
Methodology: Blood samples were collected from (35) patients with type-ΙΙ diabetes mellitus, besides (35) healthy
individuals as a control group were enrolled in this study. The age of all subjects range from (20-50). Serum was
used in determination of glucose, insulin, lipid profile (cholesterol (Ch), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein
(HDL-Ch), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-Ch) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), for patients and control
groups. Insulin resistance (IR) was calculated acco

THE CLINICAL PROFILE AND CORONARY ARTERY FINDINGS IN PATIENTS WITH ATRIAL FIBRILLATION
...Show More Authors

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia in daily practice and one of the heart disorders with the highest morbidity and death rates, as it is responsible for a huge number of negative consequences. In our country, there is limited information on the prevalence or natural history of the less well-defined clinical types.

Objective: to evaluate the clinical profile and coronary artery findings in atrial fibrillation patients.

Patients and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted during the period from the first of October 2019 to end of July 2021 at the Iraqi Center for the heart disease at Baghdad Medical City. Included 32 Iraqi patients with atri

Hs-CRP and Haptoglobin Levels in Iraqi Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
...Show More Authors

Background: Acute phase proteins which include C-reactive protein (CRP) and haptoglobin (Hp) are associated with inflammatory diseases such as injury, infection or malignancy, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) evaluated as the atherogenicity index is correlated with different diseases.
Objective : The study was to investigate hs-CRP and Hp concentration in Iraqi patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and calculate AIP which predicts this disease.
Subject and Method: The study included 64 subjects (39 patients with CAD and 25 healthy subjects as a control group). The markers of inflammatory hs-CRP and Hp levels were measured. Lipid profile (Total cholesterol TC,

Oxidative Stress and Some Liver Functions Parameters in Patients with Symptomatic Cholelithiasis
...Show More Authors

Background : Gallstone disease is one of a common surgical problem and one of the most common gastrointestinal diseases throughout the world but its pathogenesis remains unclear. Many theories have been put forward to explain the mechanism of stone formation. The living organism has enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant systems neutralizing the harmful effects of the endogenous oxygen free radicals products. Under certain conditions, the oxidative or anti-oxidative balance shifts towards the oxidative status as a result of increase in oxygen free radicals and/or impairment in antioxidant mechanism.

Objective :To evaluate the oxidative stress markers (total antioxidants capacity and malondialdeh

Background: The use of the chest x-ray measurements which includes the cardiothoracic ratio(C-T) and frontal area (FA) of the heart by the CXR are useful measures for primary assessment of the cardiac dysfunction.
Patients and Methods: A Prospective study was done from the 1st of January 2005 to the 1st of October in the same year on a 120 consecutive patients who have been admitted for coronary and L.V angiogram at IBN-AL-BITAR hospital. The C-T ratio and the frontal area were measured.
Results: The study comprised 120 subjects who were admitted for coronary and L.V angiogram for diagnostic reasons. 89subjects (74.2%) are male and 31subjects (25.8%) are female .17(14%) subjects have left ventricular d

Methods: Forty patients (18 malignant and 22 benign
pleural effusion) were included in this study .The
serum and effusion levels of CEA, CA 15 – 3 and

Control of high blood pressure by Acupuncture In subjects with essential hypertension

advancing age. The risk of cardiovascular disease in adults is lowest with systolic BP <120 mm Hg and diastolic BP < 80 mm Hg and increases progressively with higher systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Acupuncture (from the Latin word acus, “needle”, and pungere, meaning “prick”) is a technique in which the practitioner inserts fine needles into specific points on the patient’s body. Accupuncture could be used as a nonpharmacological way of controlling high readings of blood pressure among cases with essential hypertension. This study aimed to investigate the effects of acupuncture on essential hypertension.
Patients and Methods: 51 hypertensive patients of both genders and 30 normotensive control subjects were inv
