This study was conducted from January to October 2014, the samples were
collected monthly from four stations in AL-Diwaniya River at AL-Diwaniya city.
Phytoplankton species which are diagnosed during study period are (506) and the
numbers of common types in four sites are (61). Bacillariophyceae is dominate on
other classes and Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae then Chrysophyceae
and Euglenophyceae. The study shows that there are (150), (144), (118) and (94)
species in the first, second, third and fourth sites. The species that have highs numbers
are (Achnanthes, Cymbella, Nitzschia, Navicula). Other types are dominant in their
existence and number during study period (Cycltella comta, Cylotella Ocellata,

Seasonal variations of the species composition and abundance of Cladocera were studied in two stations at the end of the Tigris River and one station at the confluence of the Tigris with Euphrates area, at the beginning of the Shatt Al-Arab River in Al-Qurnah North of Basrah Province, from October 2015 to August 2016. Samples of zooplankton were collected by plankton net 100-µm. mesh size. The population density of Cladocera ranged between 1 Ind /m³ during summer and 211 Ind./m³ during winter at station 1 (Al-Jewaber Bridge). A total of 16 species of Cladocera belonging to 12 genera were recorded in the study. The average density of Cladocera ranged from 23.2 ind./m³ at Station 2 (Hamayon Bridge) to 53.7 Ind./m³

      The current study aims to assess the water quality of the Al-Diwaniyah River in the city of Al-Diwaniyah to drink in terms of chemical properties and heavy metals and their impact on the health of the local population. The results showed that most of the parameters in the river water are of low concentrations due to the limited human activities in polluting the river water. The study concluded that the water quality is suitable for drinking depending on major cations and anions in all seasons. Abstract. In this research, the uranium concentration in (16) water samples collected from some agricultural areas surrounded with AlTuwitha nuclear site in Baghdad-Iraq was measured by using a CR-39 detector. The concentration of uranium in this study was from (0.6 ± 0.33mg/l) to (2.51 ± 0.49 mg/l), and the weighted average for the concentrations (1.262 ± 0.402 mg/l). The results showed it is a concentration of uranium level in water samples studied is higher than the allowed limit recommended by WHO and ICRP.
