Effects of Rustamiyah treatment plant effluent on concentration of some heavy metals in water and sediment of Diyala river

      Concentrations  of  four  heavy  metals, Zinc , Copper , Lead  and  Cadimium  were  determed  in  water  and  sediment  samples   collected bi-weekly  from  six  sampling sites  on  the  lower  part  of  River  Diyala    during  low  flow  period  (August  to  October)  and   high  flow  period  (April  to  June). A  reference  point site (1)  was  situated   upstream the  effects  of  the  effluent. Present  work  describes  the  effect  of  Rustamiya  waste  water  treatment  plant  on heavy metals  in  water  and  sediment  of  River  Diyala.                                       The  results  indicated  that  heavy  metals  level  were  higher  in  low  flow  period  of  water  compared  with high flow period.Pb  concentration  was  high  in treatment  effluent site  compared with mixing  zone  and  reference  point. Cd level in  low  flow  period  in  water  was  high  and  affected  by  the  effluent  disposal  from  the  treatment  plant.                                          Concentration  of heavy  metals  in  sediment  showed  simple  difference  between  both  periods  in  refrence  point  and  mixing  zone. Environmental Properties of Tigris River at Al- Kut Dam in Wassit Province

The sampling of study was made monthly and for six months from September 2014 until February 2015.The result of turbidity values showed height mean in summer 84 NTU, The decrease of turbidity was one of the positive results to the effect of AL-Kut Dam on the Tigris River after the Dam and on the total suspended solids. Tracing and Analysis of Manganese, Nickel, Cadmium ,Copper, zinc , Lead And Aluminum Concentration and PH Values In Iraqi Chewing Gums

Evaluation of trace elements in Iraqi chewing gums are unavailable, particularly pollution of toxic elements, materials which change the values of PH in the Oral. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) were successfully employed to determine the concentration of 7 trace elements (essentially toxic and nonessential) and the PH, in thirteen different brands of chewing gum generally consumed in Iraq. Combined wet and dry digestion procedures were applied. Two types of heated graphite tubes were used, coated and uncoated tubes treated with tungsten solution. Result showed that Cu, Al and Zn were at very high levels in almost all brands whereas Mn was found to be high in brands A and O only.

Heat treatment has been carried out in the range (400-600) K for all samples. The optical properties of the CIS thin films are been studied such as (absorption coefficient, refractive index, extinction coefficient, real and imaginary dielectric constant) by determined using Measurement absorption and transmission spectra. Results showed that through the optical constants we can make to control it are wide applications as an optoelectronic devices and photovoltaic applications.
