Acute Effective of Chromiume on the Simocephalus expinosus and Mesocyclops hyalinus
...Show More Authors

The effect of acute toxicity of chromium as (k2Cro4) on Simocephalus  expinosus (cladocera) and Mesocyclops hyalinus (cyclopoida) was studied in the present study .Both species can be used as asutible biological indecaters. In addition  Both of them are part of crustacean zooplankton.Their position in the fresh water  food chain, as the cladocerans constitutes the primary consumers while cyclopoids are part of secondary consumers.         To determine LC50 of chromium for the two species the following concentrations  of chromium  were  used 1,2, 3,4, 5,6, 14,18, 22,26,28, and 30 ppm. The results showed that LC 50 of chromium after 48 hrs. were 2.842 ppm and 23.604 ppm for  S. expinosus and  M. hyalinus respectively, which means that the sensivity to chromium is much higher in S.expinosus than in  M. hyalinus.

Evaluation the Effects of CO2 Laser on Soft and Hard Tissues (in vitro study)
...Show More Authors

CO2 laser (10.6 μm) is the most often used laser in the oral surgery due to its high absorption by water of the oral tissues. Several benefits of the use of CO2 laser have been reported for oral surgical procedures. This study aims to evaluate the effect of CO2 laser on soft and hard oral tissues (in vitro study). This study was done on fresh tissues from sheep’s head. CO2Surgical Laser with different operation modes was used; 0.2 mm spot size using different laser parameters on the tongue, and bone making holes, incisions and cutting. The depths and widths of holes and incisions were measured using endodontic file under magnification. The speed of incisions was calculated and the required time for cutting was measured using sport clo

Variation of pH and Composite Dosage on the Photocatalytic Activity for ZnO/epoxy Nanocomposites
...Show More Authors

In this research, Zinc oxide (ZnO)/epoxy nanocomposite was synthesized by simple casting method with 2wt. % ZnO concentration. The aim of this work was to study the effect of pH and composite dosage on the photocatalytic activity of ZnO/ epoxy nanocomposite. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technique images proof the homogeneous distribution of ZnO nanoparticles in epoxy. A synthesized nanocomposite samples were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometer (FTIR) measurements. Two spectra for epoxy and 2wt.% ZnO/epoxy nanocomposites were similar and there are no new bonds formed from the incorporation of ZnO nanoparticles. Using HCl and NaOH were added to Methylene blue (MB) dye (5ppm) to gat pH values 3 and 8. The degradat

The effect of obesity and Insulin Resistance on Liver Enzymes in Type2 Diabetes Mellitus
...Show More Authors

Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been defined as a clinical syndrome that is characterized by abnormal carbohydrate metabolism. The chronic hyperglycemia of diabetes is associated with long term damage, dysfunction, and failure of different organs, especially the liver .This study was conducted to assess the effect obesity and insulin resistance on liver enzymes in diabetic Iraqi patients.A comparative study of (90) Iraqi adults divided to three subgroup(30) obese ,(30) nonobese diabetic patients and(30)person had used as control. The analysis included Liver enzyme ALP,ALT,AST,GGT ,Fasting Plasma Glucose (FBG) , Lipid Profile , Hemoglobin A1C , insulin and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA IR) were measured. The influence of Packed Cells Volume (PCV) and Temperature on Erythrocytes Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
...Show More Authors

Erythrocytes aggregation is an important physiological phenomenon in the circulation of blood, and is a basic characteristic of normal blood that plays a major role in cardiovascular system especially in the microcirculation. Blood samples have been taken from (30) volunteers (15 male, and 15 female), their ages (20-30) years. The Erythrocytes Sedimentation Rate (ESR) for those subjects was measured at different Packed Cells Volume (PCV) (10%-25%), and also it was measured at different temperature (10oC-25oC). The results show that there was a highly significant decrease (P<0.01) in ESR when the PCV increase and a highly significant increase (P<0.01) in ESR when the temperatures increase. The conclusion from these results is that the ESR va

The Effect of Anesthesia on Thyroid Hormones and Cortisol Levels Following Major Urological Surgery
...Show More Authors

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of anesthesia on thyroid hormones (T3, T4, rT3), thyrotropin(TSH), and cortisol levels in patients undergoing major urological surgery. The study included fifty patients scheduled for elective major urological surgery where 70% of the patients underwent general anesthesia, while30% underwent regional anesthesia. All patients were in stable control general conditions. The study showed that the thyroid hormones, thyrotropin and cortisol levels were affected with general anesthesia more than regional. The levels of these hormones responded to anesthetics and surgical stresses. This response was thought to be mainly mediated by afferent neurogenic impulses from the area of injury. Therefore, ab

In this paper the design of hybrid retina matching algorithm that is used in identification systems is considered. Retina based recognition is apparent as the most secure method for identification of an identity utilized to differentiate persons.

The characteristics of Speeded up Robust Feature (SURF) and Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Key-Points (BRISK) algorithm have been used in order to produce a fast matching algorithm than the classical ones, those characteristics are important for real-time applications which usually need quick processing of a growing quantity of data. The algorithm is divided into three stages: retinal image processing and segmentation, extracting the lo
