Simultaneous Determination of Sulfanilamide and Furosemide by Using Derivative Spectrophotometry

A simple, precise and accurate spectrophotometric method has been developed for simultaneous estimation of sulfanilamide and furosemide in their mixture by using first and second order derivative method in the ultraviolet region. The method depends on first and second derivative spectrophotometry, with zero-crossing and peak to base line and peak area measurements. The first derivative amplitudes at 214, 238 and 266 nm were selected for the assay of sulfanilamide and 240, 260, 284, 314 and 352 nm for furosemide. Peak area at 201222, 222-251 and 251-281 nm selected for estimation of sulfanilamide and at 229-249, 249270, 270-294, 294-333 and 333-382 nm for furosemide. The second derivative amplitudes at 220, 252 and 274 nm for sulfanilamide and 248, 272, 292, 334, and 364 nm for furosemide. Peak area at 209-229, 239-262 and 262-285 nm for sulfanilamide and at 238-253, 262-281, 281-303, 315-353 and 353-383 nm for furosemide. The first derivative absorption at 270.5 nm (zero cross point of furosemide) was used for determination of sulfanilamide and 322.5 and 352 nm (zero cross point of sulfanilamide) for determination of furosemide. The second derivative absorption at 261 and 283.3 nm (zero cross point of furosemide) was used for determination of sulfanilamide and 266, 334 and 364 nm (zero cross point of sulfanilamide) for determination of furosemide. The linearity was established over the concentration range of 1-35 μg/ml and 1-60 μg/ml for sulfanilamide and furosemide with correlation coefficient R2 0.9991 and 0.9995 respectively. Accuracy and precision of the determination method on the various amounts of sulfanilamide and furosemide with known concentrations were evaluated in their binary mixtures. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the estimation of sulfanilamide in its synthetic samples and furosemide in its drug tablets.

Determination of essential and trace elements in various vegetables using ICP-MS

Metal contents in vegetables are interesting because of issues related to food safety and ‎potential health risks. The availability of these metals in the human body ‎may perform many biochemical functions and some of them linked with various diseases at ‎high levels. The current study aimed to evaluate the concentration of various metals in ‎common local consumed vegetables using ICP-MS. The concentrations of metals in vegetables ‎of tarragon, Bay laurel, dill, Syrian mesquite, vine leaves, thymes, arugula, basil, common ‎purslane and parsley of this study were found to be in the range of, 76-778 for Al, 10-333 for B, 4-119 for ‎Ba, ‎2812‎-24645 for Ca, 0.1-0.32 for Co, 201-464 for Fe, 3661-46400 for K, 0.31–‎‎1.

Spectrophotometric determination of Procaine penicillin in pure and pharmaceutical formulations using metol

A simple, accurate and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of Procaine penicillin (PP) is described. The method is based on charge-transfer reaction of PP with metol (N-methyl-p-hydroxy aniline) in the presence of ferric sulphate to form a purple-water soluble complex ,which is stable and has a maximum absorption at 510 nm .A graph of absorbance versus concentration shows that Beer’s low is obeyed over the concentration range of 3-80 µg /ml of PP (i.e.,3-80 ppm) with a molar absorbativity of 4.945 ×103 L.mol-1.cm-1 ,Sandell sensitivity of 0.1190 µg cm-2 ,a relative error of (-1.57)-2.79 % and a standard deviation of less than 0.59 depending on the concentration of PP.The optimum conditions for full co

Novel Definitions of α-Fractional Integral and Derivative of the Functions

An α-fractional integral and derivative of real function have been introduced in new definitions and then, they compared with the existing definitions. According to the properties of these definitions, the formulas demonstrate that they are most significant and suitable in fractional integrals and derivatives. The definitions of α-fractional derivative and integral coincide with the existing definitions for the polynomials for 0 ≤ α < 1. Furthermore, if α = 1, the proposed definitions and the usual definition of integer derivative and integral are identical. Some of the properties of the new definitions are discussed and proved, as well, we have introduced some applications in the α- fractional derivatives and integral

Spectrophotometric Method for the Determination of Tetracycline and Doxycycline by Oxidizing Coupling Reaction with 4-aminoantipyrine

A simple,  sensitive, accurate and low cost effective spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Tetracycline and Doxycycline in pure and pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the reaction of methyldopa with 4-aminoantipyren (4-AAP) in presence of potassium ferriecyanide (PFC) in an alkaline medium. Two optimization methods were applied to determine the optimum conditions of oxidizing coupling reaction variables; univariate and design of experiment (DOE) method. The conditions effecting the  reaction; pH, buffer Volume,   reagent concentration, oxidant concentration, type of buffer, order of addition, time of reaction and stability were optimized . Under univariate and design

Preparation and Evaluation of PolyVinyl Alcohol Derivative as Antimicrobial and Antifungal Agents

Polyvinal alcohol was Cynoethylated , complex compound with Iodin in presence of Cu++ ions were preparated and their ultra violet (U.V) and infra red( IR) spectra were investigated. The prepared derivative and complexes were evaluated as antibacterial and antifungal agents following the standard dilution method. MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration) for each polymer using ten types of gram + ve and gram _ ve bacteria were determinated in addition to three types of fungi. The results obtainded showed that MIC, s were around 0.0011 × 103 molar for different polymetric derivatives tried.

Determination local geoid Heights Using RTK-DGPS/Leveling and transformation methods

Geodesy is concerned with the relative positioning of points and the gravity field of the earth. For this task, a well-defined coordinate system is needed on which measurements are normally tied to a set of reference points called a geodetic datum (geoid or ellipsoid). The Global Positioning System GPS gives accurately the three-dimensional position of a point (latitude, longitude, and ellipsoidal height) and can measure under all weather conditions. The coordinates of the GPS reference to the World Geodetic System1984 (WGS 84), a global ellipsoid having its origin as the mass center of the earth, and height, referenced to the surface of the ellipsoid . In this research , using RTK-DGPS technique Data collection for study local and level

Determination of Mefenamic Acid Using a New Mode of Irradiation (Array of Six Identical LEDs) and Detection( Twin Solar Cells) Through Turbidity Measurement by CFIA

A newly developed analytical method characterized by its speed and sensitivity for the determination of mefenamic acid (MFA) in pure and pharmaceutical preparation is established via turbidimetric measurement (0-180o) by Ayah 6SX1-ST-2D Solar cell CFI Analyser . The method was based on the reaction of
phosphomolybdic acid with mefenamic acid in aqueous medium to form blue color precipitate as an ion-pair complex . Turbidity was measured via the reflection of incident light that collides on the surface precipitated particles at 0-180o . The chemical and physical parameters were studied and optimized. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 0.3-7 or 0.3-10 mMol.L-1, with correlation coefficient r = 0.9907 or 0.9556 respectively
