L-Phenylalanine amino acid was condensed with 2-hydroxybezaldehyde to give the Schiff base sodium 2-(2-hydroxybenzylideneamino)-3-phenylpropanoate, which was used as a precursor [NaHL]. The precursor was reacted with 1,2-dichloroethane to give the Schiff base sodium 2,2'-(2,2'-(ethane-1,2diylbis(oxy))bis(2,1-phenylene))bis(methan-1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(azan1-yl-1-ylidene)bis(3-phenyl propanoate), which was used as a ligand [Na2L], in complexation with some metal (II) chloride MCl2, where [M= Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)], to give [M(L)] complexes. The [Na2L] ligand and All complexes were characterized by spectroscopic methods, [FTIR, UV-Vis, atomic absorption], melting point, chloride content, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, as well as the Na2L ligand characterized by 1H NMR. The data, of these studies and measurements were important to suggest an octahedral geometry around Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions. The synthesized ligand, along with its metal complexes, was screened for in vitro antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, and Acinetobacter baumannii. This study showed an effective inhibition of gram- positive bacteria.

Combining different treatment strategies successively or simultaneously has become recommended to achieve high purification standards for the treated discharged water. The current work focused on combining electrocoagulation, ion-exchange, and ultrasonication treatment approaches for the simultaneous removal of copper, nickel, and zinc ions from water. The removal of the three studied ions was significantly enhanced by increasing the power density (4–10 mA/cm2) and NaCl salt concentration (0.5–1.5 g/L) at a natural solution pH. Macrocheles glaber (Müller) is one of several mites that feeds on eggs, newly hatched &
small larvae of house fly Musca domestica L. This mite was reared in the laboratory on house
fly frozen eggs at constant conditions of 28°C±1 and 90% relative humidity using sterilized
horse dung substrate. The predation rate of adult female and male on frozen eggs was (18, 3)
eggs/mite/day respectively, the number of frozen eggs destroyed by adult female through its
life was 185.6 eggs.
The mean duration of adult female from egg to adult stage was 2.67 days, the longevity of
female was 27.8 days, the mean daily egg production was 2.7 egg with total egg productivity
of 72.1 egg.
A total of 90 stool sample was collected from patients with gastroenteritis to
detect adenovirus antigen among diarrhea cases. They were tested by general stool
examination (GSE), rapid immunochromatographic test and Enzyme Linked
Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). GSE showed that adenovirus gastroenteritis
infection resulted in non-bloody diarrhea, the existence of RBCs in 7% and Pus in
37% of the samples, Entamoeba histolytica trophozoite and cyst were seen in 3%
and 2% of the samples respectively. The rapid test showed that 21% of samples
were positive for rotavirus, 8% for adenovirus and 3% for astrovirus. Meanwhile,
the ELISA test showed that adenovirus was positive in 9% of the samples. These
