Twenty binary liquid crystalline mixture diagrams were investigated with polarizing microscope and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Four binary mixture diagrams were constructed to identify the smectic phase which is found to be the same in all components of the homologous series (4-n-alkoxy -2, 3, 5, 6-tetra methyl-4-n-alkoxy azo benzene) (nPA4M). The fifth binary mixture diagram was between the (6PA4M) and the reference liquid crystal compound, terephthlylidene-bis (4-n-butylanaline) (TBAA) to identify the type of smectic mesophase of these compounds, and the results obtained were compared with the literature. To study the effect of the 4 methyl lateral groups on the thermotropic behavior of the (nPA4M) homologous series, fifteen binary mixture diagrams were divided in to three parts, each part contains five diagrams. The first binary diagrams were (nPA4M) with reference liquid crystalline compound 4-n-hexyloxyphenyl-4-n`-hexyloxy azobenzene (HPA) (compound without lateral group). The second five diagrams were between (nPA4M) and reference liquid crystal compound 4-butylpheny-4-{[(4-ethyloxyphenyl)carbonyl]oxy}-3-methyl benzoate (4B2M) ( compound with one methyl lateral group), and the last part of binary diagrams was between (nPA4M) and reference liquid crystal compound 4-butyl-2methylpheny4-{[(4ethyloxyphenyl) carbonyl]oxy}-3-methylbenzoate(4B2,3M) ( compound has two methyl lateral groups). .

Risks are confronting the foundations of buildings and structures when exposed to earthquakes which leads to high displacements that may cause the failure of the structures. This research elaborates numerically the effect of the earthquake on the vertical and lateral displacement of footing resting on the soil. The thickness of the footing and depth of soil layer below the footing was taken as (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 m) and (10, 20 and 40m), respectively. The stiffness ratio of soil to footing was also elaborated at 0.68, 0.8, 1.0, and 1.7. The results showed an increase in the verticle displacement of footing as the duration of the earthquake increases. For the first time in Iraq, the crustacean Ergasilus ogawai Kabata,
1992 was recorded from the gills of Silurus triostegus, Mastacembelus mastacembelus, Mystus pelusius and Acanthopagrus latus out of 12 fish species caught from Garmat Ali river north of Basrah city during the period from September 1999 till August 2000. The percentage incidence of infestations of these four fish species were 98.9%, 100%,
49.6% and 71.4% while the intensity of infestations were 417, 81.8,
3.4 and 2, respectively. No significant differences in infestations of
male and female hosts with this crustacean were detected.

Electrochemical corrosion of hydroxyapatite (HAP) coated performance depends on various parameters like applied potential, time, thickness and sintering temperature. This study was undertaken to diagnose routine settling problems within a third-party oil and gas companies’ Mono-Ethylene Glycol (MEG) regeneration system. Two primary issues were identified including; a) low particle size (<40 μm) resulting in poor settlement within high viscosity MEG solution and b) exposure to hydrocarbon condensate causing modification of particle surface properties through oil-wetting of the particle surface.
