Isolation and Identification of Multidrug Resistance Among Clinical and Environmental Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates
...Show More Authors

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common opportunistic pathogen causing morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients due to its multiple resistance mechanisms. Therefore, as a therapeutic option becomes restricted, the search for a new agent is a preference. So P. aeruginosa is an extremely versatile Gram-negative bacterium capable of thriving in a broad spectrum of environments, and this performs main problems to workers in the field of health. One hundred and fifty samples were collected from different sources from Baghdad hospitals, divided into two main groups: clinical (100) specimens and (50) samples as an environmental, collected from October 2019 to the March 2020. All of these samples were cultured by specific and differential media, Forty six isolates of P. aeruginosa bacteria were identified by using microscopic examination, biochemical tests and confirmed by VITEK-2 compact system. The antibiotic sensitivity test recognized for all bacterial isolates and the results showed high resistant to Amikacin, Cefepime, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamicin, Meropenem, Piperacilin, Ticarcillin, Ticarcillin/Clavulanic Acid and Tobramycin, and high sensitive to Ceftazidime, Colistin and Imipenem. Biofilm formation were detection by using Microtiter plate method, were results includes out of 23 isolates, three (13%) were formed as weak biofilm, seven (30.4 %) were developed as moderate biofilm, whereas

Synthesis and Environmental Application of BiOI/BiOCl Composites
...Show More Authors

This work illustrates an enhanced visible light photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange dye (M.O.) by employing BiOI / BiOCl composites prepared under room temperature and without any organic precursors. Various experimental parameters have been studied, namely; composition of the composite, irradiation time and cell material. Composition D which implied 75% BiOI and 25% BiOCl has shown the highest bleaching of M.O. dye. This confirms the optimum photo-sensitization phenomenon for this composition in comparison to others. In the optimum photo-sensitized composite the electron of the conduction band reveals better reducing power and the hole of the valence band exhibits more oxidative power than those of pure BiOI electron and hole. Lexical Bundles: Identification and Distinguishing Features
...Show More Authors

It is not often  easy to identify a certain group of words as a lexical bundle, since the same set of words can be, in different situations, recognized as idiom,  a collocation, a lexical phrase or a lexical bundle. That is, there are many cases where the overlap among the four types is plausible. Thus, it is important to extract the most identifiable and distinguishable characteristics with which a certain group of words, under certain conditions, can be recognized as a lexical bundle, and this is the task of this paper.

Isolation and characterization of a tetrahydroprotoberberine alkaloid from Crassula ovata
...Show More Authors

The presence of alkaloids in Crassula ovata is a topic that is still unexplored, as there are no published studies on the matter. This study demonstrates the presence of an alkaloid compound (and its class) for the first time in Crassula ovata. The plant material was defatted with n-hexane, and a Soxhlet apparatus was used for the extraction process, while the acid-base method was used for the isolation of alkaloids from the chloroform fractions. The quaternary alkaloid was precipitated from the aqueous layer spontaneously, in high quantity. By using standard spectroscopic methods (including liquid chromatography - mass spectroscopy) we were able to clarify the structure of the precipi¬tated compound as a tetrahydroprotoberberine a

Isolation and Immunopathological Evaluation of Chromobacterium violaceum from Diarrheic Chickens
...Show More Authors

Background Chromobacterium violaceum is a rare but potentially pathogenic bacterium that can infect humans and animals. Limited information is available about its occurrence in poultry. This study aimed to isolate and identify C. violaceum from diarrheic chickens and to evaluate its immunological impact in a mouse model. Methods Fifty chicken diarrhea fecal samples were cultured and typed by biochemical tests, Vitek 2 Compact System, and 16S rRNA gene PCR sequencing. Killed bacterial antigens were prepared and administered to mice to measure immune responses (IgG and IL-6 levels by ELI

In vitro isolation and expansion of neural stem cells NSCs
...Show More Authors

Neural stem cells (NSCs) are progenitor cells which have the ability to self‑renewal and potential for differentiating into neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes. The in vitro isolation, culturing, identification, cryopreservation were investigated to produce neural stem cells in culture as successful sources for further studies before using it for clinical trials. In this study, mouse bone marrow was the source of neural stem cells. The results of morphological study and immunocytochemistry of isolated cells showed that NSCs can be produced successfully and maintaining their self‑renewal and successfully forming neurosphere for multiple passages. The spheres preserved their morphology in culture and cryopreserved t
