Abstract:

   The problem of poverty is one of the most important development challenges facing developing countries including Sudan for several decades. Although many efforts have been made to reduce poverty, however, its rates are increasing, and public policies adopted by the government in this regard remain elusive in achievinging its main objectives or making any significant progress. The purpose of the present study is to analyse poverty in Sudan by identifying its measurement, causes and the factors that have contributed to the increasing poverty rates over the past two decades. Also this study aims at investigating the interim poverty reduction strategy in Sudan as well as evaluates that strategy through its main objectives, themes and areas of concern. This study uses the descriptive analysis method for diagnosing poverty in Sudan based on the latest official statistics, which raises concern about the analysis of key elements of the interim poverty reduction strategy. The present study concludes with a discussion of the main challenges facing the interim strategy and its weaknesses. Some useful policy implications can be suggested to improve the strategy for its chances of success.

This study focuses on determining the heterogeneity of Yamama Formation and its spatial distribution in south of Iraq using three indices namely, Coefficient of Variation, Lorenz Coefficient, and Dykstra – Parsons Coefficient. The porosity and permeability values from eleven wells in south of Iraq (Basra and Maysan oil fields) are used for computing heterogeneity indices. Ordinary kriging technique is used to interpolate the computed indices and to show the spatial distribution of these indices over the study area. The current study is concerned with the analysis of spatial and temporal to death the elderly population in the city of Baghdad and at the level of administrative units Minor (districts and the areas) depending on the general population census of the province of Baghdad, data for 1997 and data from the Ministry of Health Department of Health and Vital Statistics for 2013.
The study showed differing age and quality of mortality rates at the level of administrative units of the study area, and notes the high mortality rates of elderly people of all age groups in 2013 compared to 1997, and this is due to security conditions after the USA occupation, and the accompanying conditions have affected the increase in mortality rates.

A geological model was built for the Sadi reservoir, located at the Halfaya oil field. It is regarded as one of the most significant oilfields in Iraq. The study includes several steps, the most essential of which was importing well logs from six oil wells to the Interactive Petrophysics software for conducting interpretation and analysis to calculate the petrophysical properties such as permeability, porosity, shale volume, water saturation, and NTG and then importing maps and the well tops to the Petrel software to build the 3D-Geological model and to calculate the value of the original oil in place.
