This study investigated the applicability of iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) nanoparticles for the removal of cadmium metal from sewage water by using batch scale experiments. The iron oxide nanoparticles of 27.7nm were synthesized using a biological method and characterized by Atomic Force Microscope (AFM).  The Box-Wilson design was used to conduct experiments with three parameters such as pH (2-6), time of adsorption (6-120min) and adsorbent dosage (5-25mg/L). The best conditions occurred at pH: 5.5; contact time: 95.8 min; and iron oxide nanoparticle dosage: 20.77 mg/L for maximum cadmium removal of (96.9%).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the possibility of using Staphylococcus epidermidis cells as a probiotic to treat some skin infections. For this purpose, S. epidermidis Y73, which is an active bacteriocin producer and non-biofilm forming isolate, was selected among 134 skin isolates through primary and secondary screening. Tryptic soya broth was selected as the best medium to support bacteriocin production, while the optimal pH and temperature for S. epidermidis Y73 growth were 7 and 37°C, respectively, which were invested in the formula preparation. This aim of this study is to assess the Tigris River sediments and utilize them as a new abrasive for the preparation of polished surface of magnetite ore to be studied under reflected light ore microscope. Such polishing process was tested using 250, 125, 71, 45, 25 and 18μm grain sizes of the river sediments. For the completion of the polishing and to obtain a glossy perfect polished surface, the 7 and 2.5 μm sized standard diamond pastes were used.
