The study aims to understand the Iraqi public's attitudes toward social issues posted on social media، specifically Facebook. It raises questions about the content of comments، whether they are negative or positive، whether they indicate respect for other opinions، or the opposite، whether the public engages in dialogue through comments، whether they offer solutions to posted issues، or whether they simply view them. This study addresses the issue of academic writing in English by comparing pragmatic argumentation in the writing of 40 graduate students studying at Iraqi universities (SSIU) with the writing of 40 graduate students studying at American universities (SSAU). The expansion of the social media environment has created its own linguistic realities which involve more colloquial communication and practical employment of language. This research focuses on nominalizations in detail, which are originally formed words that have been changed for a noun role. These nominalizations are examined within the context of Facebook posts.
