These sources have been selected from a Catalogue for bright X-ray galaxies. The name of this index is ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue (RBSC) and the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS). : In this study, a linear synchronous machine is compared with a linear transverse flux machine. Both machines have been designed and built with the intention of being used as the power take off in a free piston engine. As both topologies are cylindrical, it is not possible to construct either using just flat laminations and so alternative methods are described and demonstrated. Despite the difference in topology and specification, the machines are compared on a common base in terms of rated force and suitability for use as a generator. Experience gained during the manufacture of two prototypes is described.

This paper presents a new numerical method for the solution of ordinary differential equations (ODE). The linear second-order equations considered herein are solved using operational matrices of Wang-Ball Polynomials. By the improvement of the operational matrix, the singularity of the ODE is removed, hence ensuring that a solution is obtained. In order to show the employability of the method, several problems were considered. The results indicate that the method is suitable to obtain accurate solutions.
