...Show More Authors

The research aims to shed light on the importance of Natural gas as a National wealth is not being used optimally to be a financial resource is important to Iraq in addition to Oil, as well as could be used as an important Source of Energy, instead of burning gas is a waste of wealth and Contribute to the contamination of the environment. Research Reviews the importance of Natural gas, where is currently about a quarter of global energy consumption. Then deals with the reality of the gas industry in Iraq and winning because of the volume of waste incineration, which reached a rate (45%) of the gas Associated with oil, where Iraq is fourth globally in Terms of the amount of gas Burned. Finally, this paper discusses the future of natural gas in Iraq through the Third Round of licenses and gas project which aimed to the south Increase the Proportion of gas exploitation in the future

Effect of Shatt Al-Arab Salinity on the Groundwater of Al-Fao and Al-Siba in Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted to estimate the extent of damage to the population in Basra, southern Iraq, specifically the areas adjacent to the Shatt al-Arab and the Arabian Gulf, which are the Al-Fao district and the Al-Siba region. They are affected by the progression of saline water resulting from the lack of water imports and the Karun River interruption, which led to high concentrations of salts in the Shatt Al-Arabs. Consequently, its effect on lands and all life types in these areas requires correcting a map of the study area to drop the groundwater sites as well as calculate the total dissolved salts, electrical conductivity and pH. This study concluded that the groundwater contains very high percentages of total dissolved solid

The study of the distribution of major oxides and heavy metals in some plants collecting and analyzing eighteen plant samples of vegetables including carrot, onion, eggplant, cucumber, and okra obtained from Abu Ghraib land located about 20 km west of Baghdad, Iraq. Eighteen plant samples of vegetables,.Heavy metals can have a severe impact if released into the environment, even in trace quantities. These can enter the food chain from aquatic and agricultural ecosystems and indirectly threaten human health.. Trace elements and oxides of As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Se, Th, U, V, and Zn were measured in plant samples using an X-Ray Fluorescence Instrument (XRF). TEs analyses of vegetables were performed in the Iraqi German Lab

Basin analysis of Cretaceous to Tertiary selected wells in Kirkuk and Bai Hassan Oil Fields, Kirkuk, Northern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Basin analysis (geohistory) is carried out on the Cretaceous to Tertiary succession in five wells at Kirkuk and Bai Hassan Oil Fields during the Aptian to the Recent. The Foothill Zone exhibited a complex subsidence and uplift history over a period of about 132 Ma. The results from studied wells backstripping provide a record of the subsidence and uplift history in a number of important Meso-Cenozoic depositional successions. They show that there are three distinct episodes separated by unconformity surfaces. The value of compaction varies from large during the Cretaceous period to less clearly during the Paleogene and then almost non-existent during the Neogene. Generally, the subsidence is continuous and gradual during Mesozoic and sud

Application of the Predictive deconvolution on a seismic line Al-Najaf and Al-Muthanna Governorates in Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study deals with the processing  of field seismic data for a seismic line located within the administrative boundaries of Najaf and Muthanna governorates in southern Iraq (7Gn 21) with a length of 54 km. The study was conducted within the Processing Department of the Oil Exploration Company using the Omega  system, which contains a large number of programs that deal with processing, through the use of these programs applied  predictive deconvolution  of both( gap) and (spike). The final section was produced for both types. The gap predictive deconvolution  gave improvement in the shallow reflectors while in deep reflectors it did not give a good improvement, thus giving a good continuity of the reflectors at

Using 2D Resistivity Imaging Technique to Detect and Delineate Shallow Unknown Cavities In Al-Haqlaniyah Area, Western Iraq
...Show More Authors

Basal breccia unconformity layer between Anah and Euphrates Formations in Al-Haqlaniyah area, Western desert, include enormous sinkholes and cavities usually cause severe damages to any kind of engineering facilities built over it. Two-dimensional resistivity imaging has been applied to detect the depth and extent of the subsurface caves at five stations. The dipole-dipole array is chosen with an electrode spacing of 2 meters. 2D Dipole-dipole imaging inverse models show the resistivity values have a big variation between the anomalous background resistivity of rocks and part of cavities. These models showed shallow cavities at 1 to 3 m depth and others at 5to 6 m depth and extending to a depth of 23 m. The unconformity layer

Impact of Tharthar Arm on the Composition and Diversity of Rotifera in Tigris River North of Baghdad, Iraq
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Tharthar Arm on the composition and diversity of Rotifera in Tigris River. Six sampling sites were selected, two on Tharthar Arm and four along the Tigris River, one before the confluence as a control site and the others downstream of the confluence. Seventy-seven species of Rotifera were identified in Tigris, whereas, 60 in the arm. The results showed that low density of Rotifera in Tharthr Arm decreased the density in Tigris from 239812.4 upstream of the confluence to 223315.5 at immediate downstream of the confluence. It also declined the mean values of richness, evenness and Shannon diversity indices from 5.19, 0.69 and 2.14 bit/Ind., before the confluence to 3.97, 0.73 a

Processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data of an oil field in central of Iraq using AVO techniques
...Show More Authors

In this research, a qualitative seismic processing and interpretation is made up
through using 3D-seismic reflection data of East-Baghdad oil field in the central part
of Iraq. We used the new technique, this technique is used for the direct hydrocarbons
indicators (DHI) called Amplitude Versus Offset or Angle (AVO or AVA) technique.
For this purposes a cube of 3D seismic data (Pre-stack) was chosen in addition to the
available data of wells Z-2 and Z-24. These data were processed and interpreted by
utilizing the programs of the HRS-9* software where we have studied and analyzed
the AVO within Zubair Formation. Many AVO processing operations were carried
out which include AVO processing (Pre-conditioning for gathe

...Show More Authors

The easternmost extent of the Pharaoh Eagle Owl Bubo ascalaphus (Savigny, 1809)
distribution has remained enigmatic due to id entification problems and lack of owl research.
In Iraq, B. ascalaphus has been reported from only few localities in western Iraqi deserts;
while its occurrence in Iran has not been reported before this study. In 2017 2020, several
new records of B. ascala phus in western through southeastern Iraq were made and a new
distribution range in western Iran was confirmed. Furthermore, field identification,
interspecific relationships and conservation status of B. ascalaphus in Iraq and Iran were
comprehensively di scussed.
