The Role of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in Achieving Regional Security
...Show More Authors

The organizational structure of relations between states is among the main features that distinguished the twentieth century as the era of international organization, especially after the increase in the number of political units after World War II in which regionalism was crystallized as a phenomenon. It is not modern, as there are many blocs such as the European Union that have developed in it, the idea of regional bloc is prominent, especially in Europe, as it emerged after a controversy revolved around what was called globalism in the face of Globalism vs. Regionalism. Regional, as the proponents of the global orientation saw the establishment of a global organization that includes all countries, as the best way to achieve international peace and security, while the proponents of the regional orientation emphasized the importance of establishing regional organizations to achieve this, and from here the theory of “regional peace” arose after the World War the second. Since the capabilities of developing countries to compete are weak, many of these countries have sought to take one form or another of regional cooperation in order to enhance their economic capacity in facing these challenges. In this context, the experience of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, known as ASEAN for short, represents a distinct model in this regard, which prompted it to be considered a model capable of being emulated by developing countries in their quest to maximize their gains in light of the contemporary international reality. Hence the importance of this research paper, which seeks to identify the factors of success or failure of the “ASEAN” experience in achieving regional security, its weaknesses, the challenges and difficulties it faces, and how to deal with them, in order to identify the extent of the possibilities of benefiting from this experience within the Arab region.

The Role of Strain Elastography in Evaluating Borderline Axillary Lymph nodes
...Show More Authors

Background: Axillary lymph node (ALN) enlargement with diffuse cortical thickening and conserved echogenic hilum may represent a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Sonographic strain elastography may help the characterization of borderline ALN.

Aim: To evaluate the strain elastography of borderline ALN and to calculate a cutoff value of strain ratio (SR) that can identify suspicious ALN with the highest sensitivity and specificity to reduce unnecessary invasive procedures.

Subjects and Methods: A prospective study included 45 patients who attended the Breast clinic in Oncology Teaching Hospital with borderline axillary lymphadenopathy (intact hilum and diffusely thic

The association between polymorphism of TCF7L2 gene rs12255372 G/T and type 2 diabetes mellitus in Iraqi women suffering from menopause
...Show More Authors

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) became the most prevalent health problem. Almost half of the world's people are ignorant that have diabetes. Menopause occurs as an important alteration in women through which take place the change in sex hormones, distribution in fat،s body, and metabolism, altogether which participate in the metabolism disease such as type 2 diabetes mellitus. Several studies have appeared the association between the TCF7L2 gene and different diseases like type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to detect the relation of the genetic variation polymorphism for the TCF7L2 gene (rs12255372 G/T) in Iraqi women menopausal with T2DM. The outcomes indicated the increased levels of biochemical characteristics including H

The Burden of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease COPD in Stable Patients and its Association with Inflammatory Biomarkers and Body Mass Index
...Show More Authors

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive airflow limitation that is preventable but not curable. It is associated with persistent symptoms that cause a considerable burden on individual productivity at work, and daily activities, and reduced quality of life, also burdening the healthcare system and society. Objectives: The study aims to measure the burden of COPD on patients in terms of daily activities and work productivity. It also seeks to investigate some inflammatory biomarkers' levels and their correlation with selected outcomes. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional study on 120 stable COPD patients who were diagnosed and treated according to the GOLD guidelines at Kirkuk General Hospital's

The association of combined GSTM1, GSTT1, and GSTP1 genetic polymorphisms with lung cancer risk in male Iraqi Waterpipe Tobacco (Nargila) smokers
...Show More Authors

Mutations in genes encoding proteins necessary for detoxifying oxidative stress products have been predicted to increase susceptibility to lung cancer (LC). Despite this, the association between waterpipe tobacco smoking (WP), genetic polymorphisms, and LC risk remains poorly understood. This is the first study to explore the relationship between WP tobacco smoking and these genetic factors. Previously, we investigated the association of GSTP1 SNPs (rs1695-A/G and rs1138272-C/T) with LC in Iraqi males who smoke WP. Here, we expanded our analysis to include GSTM1 (active/null) and GSTT1 (active/null) genotypes, both individually and in combination with GSTP1 SNPs. Multiplex PCR and RFLP-PCR assays were utilized to determine the genotypes of

The introduction of the research on the science of training and the physiology of sports was addressed from important sciences, where the physical effort drew the attention of scientists since the past centuries when they studied how the body performs its functions when performing physical exertion and observe the changes that occur in it and write down and study especially the positive effects of the practice of daily sports The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of plank exercises on the lipid component and the metabolic rate (bmr) of the female students of the Higher Institute for Security and Management Development. As for the third chapter, the two researchers used the experimental method on a sample of the female s

Abstract<p>Iron status can affect the outcome of in vitro-fertilization (IVF) in infertile women who undergoes this process. The aim of this study is to evaluate iron status, ceruloplasmin ferroxidase activity and their association with outcome of pregnancy prior to initiation of IVF/ICSI procedure. The participants were fertile women with male cause infertility (control; n=25), women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS; n=21), women with low anti-Müllerian hormone level (AMH; n=26), and women with unexplained infertility (UI; n=27). Blood samples were obtained on the day of oocyte aspiration. Serum iron, ferritin, transferrin level, and ceruloplasmin ferroxidase act</p> ... Show More
